They weren't bad just not 'gleaming' white - as I didn't clean them very often when I was younger, but now I do, 2 or 3 times a day.
Just wanted them looking more bright, think I achieved that.

They are in perfect condition, just not as bright as I wanted them. I don't smoke, or drink coffee - they could just be brighter. Which they now are.
What method did you go for? Professionally bleached, or a home kit? What did they look like before?

I bought the home kit, went to the Dentist to make sure it was all good, and did it at home.
Its the same product as used on Extreme Makeover. A really nice finish, takes a few sessions, and I've only had 1 so far - and thats the result.
Before, my teeth were as they are now, with slight colourisation around the gums. As it is now, you can see its a clear bright smile - although it will get brighter. Notice the yellow on one of my teeth on the left? That will be gone.

I'm getting this if I feel they aren't white enough.
I'm using the 35% Carbamide now, but I might move onto the 6% hydrogen peroxide one - as its a lot stronger and faster. I think this is working fine, though.
The 35% Carbamide Perox. I have, and the 6% Hydrogen Perox. I'm considering, is whats used in the US.
Here in the UK, a licensed dentist will only use up to 22% Carbamide Perox.
PS: On Extreme Makeover, its the Carbamide thats mostly used. The 'Zoom' whitening is for quite badly damaged teeth, hence is using the Hydrogen Peroxide, instead. Your best to start off with a 22/35% Carbamide.

As with anything cosmetic or any sort of treatment, I did read into it for a good 3-4 months on and off. Like you, I couldn't find any side effects, or down side, and it seems its becoming quite common.
I can't really 'over do it' as once they're white, I can't get them any whiter

Teeth whitening at your age is pretty silly IMHO. At my age and having quit smoking I'm going for it. My dentist set me up with prescription-grade Creat whitestrips. Apparently it's the exact same chemicals and procedure as "Brite Smile," at a fraction of the price. Brite Smile (light activated whitening is around $700 USD and only takes an hour or so. The Whitestrips take 3 weeks (1 hour/day) and have the exact same results but only cost $75. My dentist said that the strips they sell in the store would work but not as well or fast and are also more expensive.
