Just amazing how people who need help, don't take time to even read the posts for the answers !

Oh well, you can lead someone to water, but you can't make them "think"

That happens VERY often in these forums which is not surprising. I'm sure some people will find these tips useful though.

The reason is your fake carrier name is stored in the springboard plist, which is backed up & restored by iTunes and does not require the phone to be jailbroken in order for it to work.
Have a look at the post below. If you follow the instructions, you should be able to backup the device, go into your plist manually, edit it (take out the fake details), and "restore from backup". Then your phone should be back to normal.

Hope that helps.

For those who keep chastising the OP about jailbreakme.com only supporting 4.0+: You are wrong. Jailbreakme.com supports 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 at the very least. I jailbroke my first generation iPod Touch running 3.1.3 this morning, and I can assure you that it works.

Before donning your superior attitude you should double-check the support documentation. Otherwise you just end up looking like an ass.

And in response to the OP: I was having the same issue trying to jailbreak this morning, but going to www.jailbreakme.com/index.html solved the problem. Good luck!

if we had a dime for every time we said that was answered in post 4 and it's now post 20. then again how many people start a new thread when there is a almost identical one on the same page.
