A few hours ago I saw a car with a license plate number "7." Nothing else. It appeared to be a specialty plate though. It said "EC" on it. Anyone know what it means?

No, it was a newer license plate, with just a 7 centered, and and "EC" off on the right in smaller font.

That's strange. I looked at all the Illinois collegiate plates and there's one for Notre Dame.

There are lots of Notre Dame graduates in Chicago. Maybe that's why it's offered.

What I find interesting is the letters. Only ND and EC actually are acronyms for the name of the school, at least on the web page. IL Collegiate Plates

We have them in Mass. You can get a single digit license plate in a lottery which the RMV holds from time to time. They have no special meaning other then being a single digit - at least in Massachusetts.

I still don't get why people would pay more for a logo on their plate 😕

The only time I ever considered paying more for a license plate than I have to was when I applied for the vanity plate OMG WTF, which was promptly turned down for being offensive and vulgar. My take on it is that if you do not know what OMG WTF means, you obviously can't be offended by it, and if you do know what it means, chances are you are not offended by it because you hang out on websites where it is frequently used. But that is the only vanity plate I could possibly think of that's worth the extra fee.

I guess if your name is William Thomas Franklin, you're SOL. 😉
