I didn't realise the store demo models would actually work as phones! I thought that feature would have been blocked to avoid buffoonery...

Is there any restriction, or could you just walk in and dial the speaking clock in Australia?

I remember checking the 2Gs out about a week after launch. I realized that you could make calls on them and told my girlfriend to go outside so I could see the voice quality and whatnot. I definitely got some weird looks from people who hadn't figured it out, but hey, that's what a demo unit is for!

Believe me it IS annoying. Especially since I moved here from the UK, where that doesn't occur. US cell phone companies are double dipping since a 10 minute mobile to mobile call they receive 20 minutes worth of charges.

It's not double dipping. If I call an AT&T customer from my AT&T phone, neither of us get charged for minutes.

If I call a Verizon customer, AT&T deducts from my minutes and Verizon deducts from his minutes. Neither company gets double the minutes.

Annoying? Yeah, I guess. But you can't say they're "double dipping" because that's simply not true.

Except for that on all the major networks, in-networking m2m is free.

Had same Issue. Call ATT Tell them the number. They can contact the Apple Store and make sure it gets done. I had this issue and they refunded me minutes towards my account.

I dunno but I found this post pretty funny, I know its annoying but still.

But theres a good prank idea, put your friend's phone number in every phone at the iPhone store.
