when i saw the title, i was like: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?!?!?
but oh well. i wish, that one day i get a job. they allows me to use my mac :)
Btw old windows user. changed, and will NEVER go back to crappy windows :D

Congrats on the switch!

I was expecting a "I hate this stupid Mac" type of thread and I'm so relieved that it was the exact opposite.

Tricky title.

Tricking a trixster. When i read the title i was like errrrrr but then after reading the post it was clear that he's fully converted.

If he was still on a windows based PC he would have been swearing and it would be violence all the way. Im sure his life (like mine) makes much more sense now the conversion to the Mac has taken place.

I'm in the same boat as you!

I actually originally bought a mini to do iphone development and have been on Windows since 3.1 as well... I've always opposed MACs and the iphone brought me to MAC... over the past few months I found myself using the mini more than my PC and pretty much converted over all my daily tasks over to it (other than gaming). I've been so happy with the mini I decided to get a mbp (got the 13" last week) and sold my mini to cover some of the cost... no looking back now..

The toughest part of switching is all your friends/family who are still stuck on PC and stubborn to never try MAC think you're a mactard now and constantly make fun of you. :) I give up trying to justify MAC vs PC... I think you need to really own a MAC to truly give it a chance.

Welcome to Apple.

THEY'RE the Wintards, for being so closed minded as to not even TRY a Mac!. You can't say you don't like Apple, unless you taste one.

If you write a killer iPhone app and it sells well, you might just be able to give up .NET programming for good ;)

I liked the title btw, very witty!

Sorry, pet peeve of mine, but Mac is short for Macintosh, it’s not an acronym, and it doesn’t need to be capitalized. :)

I sympathise.

We have to use really poorly set-up Windows PC's at work that are getting quite long in the tooth now. Almost daily I find myself wishing I could use my iMac at work.

I'd get more frickin' work done for starters instead of waiting 3 minutes for Word to load something*

(* as stated above they really are poorly set up. I don't know what the problem is but anything in Office can lock the PC up for 1-3 minutes, the fans ramp up to maximum and all the time you've got a customer waiting on the phone and you have to keep saying 'Sorry about this, the computer's on a go slow!')

Well- welcome to the Mac world. There's nothing quite as nice as your experiences with your first Mac. Enjoy! :apple:

One of my regrets about switching is that computing used to be a hobby of mine. Fixing. optimizing, tweaking and reinstalling were routine.

With OS X all that is not needed - it just works. Which is great, but bang went a great hobby. On other hand, the cars have never looked so clean...

You just described me. I used to love tweaking fixing, hacking stuff, now, its not needed to make the computer work, because it has OS X on it. lol, But I am glad I brought home the white box and opened it, I know see the beauty of worry free computing.

I used to be such an anti-Mac person. I only bought an iPod because of the design and features, not because it was an Apple product.....
.....Then I replaced my Windows Mobile smartphone with an iPhone, and realized that all the missing features I've criticized it for I didn't miss. And don't even get me started on Vista. I finally decided to take the plunge, and I wonder why I used to hate Macs.....

That’s how I feel about watching through Lost the first time. I watched the first 3 seasons end-to-end, and while I’ve rewatched since then, it’s not the same as the first time, when you have no idea what comes next.

BT still do that. Night finds me on OS X; day finds me Windows Server 2003 using VS2005 and VS2008, FlexBuilder Pro and some other tools. It is possible to live on both worlds. Not always pleasant but possible.

I've been using Windows since 3.x. Other than having to use one at work 13+ yrs ago for a few months, I haven't touched a mac.

I bought a mbp 13 about a week ago because I wanted to play with iphone development. I've been using it everynight when I get home from work. The more I use it, the more I don't want to touch a machine with Windows on it. Why does this suck, because I'm a .net programmer. I HAVE to use Windows 8 hours a day now.

No really, I'm sure you guys get this a lot, but I really really love this mac. Not just the software or OS, but the hardware. It hurt spending $1200+ on a laptop, but from the moment I pulled it out of the box, I could see where the extra $$$ went.

Anyways, just wanted to share that with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
