I'm going to wait 3-4 years.. I'm not a huge fan of the unibody design and the options on them right now.
I just got a thinkpad to hold me over until then.. and If the world ends in 2012, my thinkpad might be able to survive

The world is not going to end, if it does happens to end, the Mayans surely didnt predict it.

On a recent trip to tulum / chitchen-itza (old Mayan territory in Mexico) I overheard a tour guide talking to a group of people. He made it a point to laugh at us for believing the Mayan calendar predicting the ends of the world. It merely marks the end of a cycle. Which dozens of cycles have already happened, 2012 marks the end of..........a cycle.

Done.

Now about this MBP......let's make a milestone

summer refresh?

I'm hoping for the next refresh during the summer '10 because i want to get the latest mbp design (it bothers me when i buy something that's gonna be outdated within a few months, ie. if it's gonna come out in oct/nov) because i want to get one before the next school year starts. but if it turns out to be worse (if they do refresh) then i will opt for the apr 13 models. i looked up the buyer's guide and it shows that a sooner refresh has been done within a timeframe of 3-4 months-ish. so i'm hoping :D

however, im not sure if apple usually schedules refreshes over the summer... do they?

Now, I by no means need a new computer now (I've bought 2 in the past 2 years) but I'd finally like to get a Mac because I'm just tired of Windows.

I would only get a 13" because I used to have a 15" and it was just too large and not worth it in my opinion. It sucks that Apple treats the 13" inch segment like a 3rd class citizen but I don't use many graphic intense programs or anything like that.

Does anyone think it's possible they'll be an update before the end of the year? I would love to buy a new one in July when there's a tax free weekend but if they'll be a new version in October-November I'll probably wait. Does Apple have history of updating that quick?

There is tax free weekends everyday up here!

As far as your inquiry, why not buy now? You stated that you don't use the computer for anything graphic intense related, meaning just you-tube, internet, email, etc? Then why not buy now?

Also to whoever said that 10.7 will be released this year, i wouldn't hold my breathe. I am betting that you would be hard pressed to see a beta this year, and that the earliest it is released is next year, 3rd quarter...

Yes, but this was at a time when apple was much more focused on the computer market. Many would argue that there has been a switch in focus toward entertainment devices like the iPad and iPhone etc.
