Next you're going to be telling me I shouldn't be wrapping it back up in that clear plastic film every night # lol

No-no - please throw away all those choking/suffocating hazards immediately!

To the OP - that IS a good reason to dispose and not use it....

I keep all plastic including the cover because should I ever sell the machine (which I never do) it would keep the value. Then again I treat my Macs like children (keep them in perfect condition) and keep all original boxes, books, paperwork, plastic, stickers, etc.

Ditto, every now and then I spot a box (containing all the packaging/stickers/wrapping/manuals/etc) in my garage for a product that broke and was binned years ago

I have a box for all my Mac and Apple stuff. I just found like 50 boxes for stuff I don't even own anymore.

I try to only do that if the box is good for storage purposes or if it is an Apple product's packaging.

I still use mine. Don't see anything wrong with using it if it's there. It's just a habit, I guess. I put my rMBP back in it's Snugg case when I'm done using it and I put the plastic bit on the magsafe charger after using it. It's just what I do. I don't think it's necessary, it'll do fine without it, but if you have it, why not use it?

I use mine each day to keep the magnet from the macs metal body. It is not necessary but more of a safety mechanism.

What I found I had to be careful of isn't losing the plastic thingy but the actual cable I have. Regular checks because it's so thin and where the plug enters it tends to bend the cable a little

It's only valid if one knew it was JUST shipping packaging like, say, the paper that comes between the keyboard and the LCD screen. I presumed you would also deduce that I stick with that one too, right?

It's no different than the caps that come on HDMI cables - it's there solely to protect the cable during shipping, not for regular, everyday use. There's no reason to keep the cover, let alone use it regularly, as you get no benefits from it, only the disadvantages of a) knowing where it is, b) having to take it off/put it back on all the time, and c) worrying about something that isn't even an issue.

I fail to see the purpose all together of the cap. During day to day use the MagSafe adapter and cord goes through much more rigorous treatment then it ever will during shipping. Also if you look at the packaging of most computers, the cord can't possibly scratch or damage anything or even itself.

I still use mine too, but I have lost several. I would like to replace them. Did you find where to get them?
[doublepost=1457272858][/doublepost]I still use my plastic cover things too, and --- packaging or not --- I like them. But I've also lost several. Did you find out where to get them?

can you tell me from where you found a replacement please ??? thanks
