Somebody mentioned that people only come here to whine and complain about their <insert device> being not what they expected or not living up to the hype.

I felt I should post this to let people know, I love my 4S.

I am holding out for Siri to be updated for us Aussies to have business searching etc. but otherwise, I love my fast, sleek, responsive and for lack of better words, cool iPhone 4S.

The phone is functional as my iPhone 4 was and is a step up, a minor one, but still I can see the improvements already and frankly think people need to stop focusing on why the 5 wasn't released and see the phone for what it is, wonderful hardware in a familiar chassis.

I agree. It just came out!!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Amen!! I came from a 4. While on the outside, no one else, or even me can see a difference up close(unless it's naked and I know the specific carrier), it's a different phone. I've played with all the new dual cores, and own 2 other outside of my 4S and none of them touch it. Even with twice the RAM. Not to mention the camera is nothing short of spectacular..

I don't think anyone should be deprived their opinion, I just wanted a happier thread about the 4S as so many seem to whine about them...

Keep whining guys and gals, I don't mind, but people who like the device, speak up more often, you're praise helps the new guys realise we aren't all pessimistic cynics.

You make it sound like a cult. People aren't whining, they're describing their issues. People just want theirs to work like yours has.

If you went from anything other than a 4 to a 4S then you should be happy, it's a great phone.

If you went from a 4, you should be crying in your sleep. Exactly the same phone with the unreliable gimmick that is Siri.

I disagree...I'm definitely not crying. I came from a 4 and am very happy. Siri is great once you get in the habit of using it....dictation alone is fabulous. And for me, everything is faster and pictures are better.

The bonus is that I was able to hand off my 4 to my best friend so now I have one more friend to imessage with...and less things to fix for her now that she got rid of the Android phone.

Agreed on all fronts

Gave my 4 to my girlfriend and can do the same now too.

I might as well join in and say that I love my 4S too! I came from a 3GS that I don't miss at all, because the 4S feels sturdier, doesn't feel cheap and plastic like the 3GS sort of did, and not to mention THE SCREEN. I have to admit I admire the retina display screen daily, something I couldn't do with the 3GS.

I also have a mophie juice pack plus (had a juice pack air for my 3GS), so the battery life or whatever isn't a concern to me at all. I'm on AT&T with a grandfathered unlimited data plan, and even though I can only hit max 3G speeds (according to speedtest.net app) of 2.6MB down and 1.6MB up in my area (Grand Rapids, MI), my signal strength with the 4S has been better in the 3 weeks since I've had it than it ever was during the 2+ years I had my 3GS. On my 3GS, whenever I ran the speedtest.net app, I would seldom (maybe twice) ever even hit 2MB down and I wouldn't even hit 1MB upload. Also, areas where I'd maybe only get 1-2 bars of 3G signal on my 3GS, I'm consistently getting 3-4 bars on the 4S. So the 4S is already a substantial improvement as far as network speed over the 3GS. In terms of real world performance - browsing, downloading, using apps, etc - it feels/seems fast to me. I'm glad they fixed the antenna for the 4S because the antenna is one of the reasons I passed on the 4 last year and stuck with my 3GS.

I'm also loving the bumped processor speeds as well. In areas where the 3GS would struggle with multi-tasking or taking a few seconds to load a game of hanging w/ friends, the 4S does it in the blink of an eye. Where the 3GS would "hesitate" at times, if it got somewhat taxed, the 4S cuts through the operation like a hot knife through butter.

The other night, I was at the bar with one of my friends from work who has an 8 GB 3GS and she, just last week, updated to iOS 5. She's nowhere near the level of iGeek that I am, and so I was showing her different things to do on iOS 5. And going back to a 3GS from a 4S was huge. The screen and the lag were painfully noticeable. I don't think the lag was from iOS 5, but simply going from a 4S back to a 3GS noted a huge difference. I advised to her that she find a way to upgrade ASAP!

Also, my GF has a droid 2 on VZW, that she got back in the spring, before we even met. Lately, it's been giving her nothing but grief. Sometimes I'll go to call her, and when she "answers" there is nothing to be heard on the other end. Other times, the same thing will happen when she goes to call someone. Her phone constantly freezes up, requiring her to take the battery out and re-insert it to "reset" the phone. Sometimes, while it's in standby mode, her phone will take it upon itself to simply reboot for absolutely no reason.

Needless to say, I've been working on convincing her to join the iPhone family, and now that she's upgrade eligible, I think she may buy in.

You make it sound like a cult. People aren't whining, they're describing their issues. People just want theirs to work like yours has.

Let's be honest... there are definitely posts describing legit issues that people are having with their phones. At the same time there is a lot of whining going on. It happens every time a new device is released. It's a cycle.

However, it's just nice that some of us want to share the good luck we're having with our phones so that others that come to the forums won't think that ALL of the phones have the same issues.

Maybe our enjoyment of our new 4s will help someone on the fence decide to take the plunge. After reading both the good and the bad they'll be making a well informed decision on their purchase.

This is me; I've been looking at the 4S but then I see all these threads about complaints they have, how the 4S has too many problems, etc. It made me stop and think, "Maybe I should wait for the 5..."

But then again, I have, Lion for example, and if I go to that sub forum I see a ton of problems and complaints, virtually none of which I've experienced on my MBP. It makes me wonder what people do to their computers, watch French maid porn on a continuous 24 hour cycle, drop their laptops from the second floor of their house or let monkeys install apps for them?

Because it sure seems like it.

4S is a great upgrade from a 3GS, still a minor update from a 4 but better nonetheless. I think it's more so all the issues and glitches with iOS 5 that have annoyed people (besides the screw loose in the head fanboys that actually thought a completely brand new phone would be made, they seem to forget that Apple generally works in 2yr cycles for all their products and the 4 was brand new last year). Ex: 3G -> 3GS -> 4-> 4S -> Next Iphone -> S update of next iPhone and so on and so on.

iOS 5 issues are what's IMO leaving a bad taste for so many people, which is crazy considering how long Apple spent on this OS and still released with glitches galore. Seems even the beta update for it isn't really fixing problems people have ran into.

I agree. Despite the slight battery concerns when compared to my 4, I absolutely adore my 4S. Such a gorgeous and powerful phone. :)

I'm currently installing the 5.0.1 beta 2 (800MB!) and I'm hoping that Apple is going on a battery bug killing rampage, which is what it seems like.

I'm sooooo pleased about this thread!!

Mac rumours can be quite down beat/critical some times so it's great to see a happy thread.

On topic: gone from a 3GS to a 4s and I'm sooo pleased!!! The jump is superb!

Siri is fun but the camera has sold it for me, it's just amazing ( spec for a phone).

The speed jump is nuts too, and the dual core power is only gonna show more as people start to develop for it!

Congrats to everyone who bought and is enjoying their 4s!
