You could get a DD-WRT compatible router and setup a wireless bridge. Then have another WiFi access point hang off that for local WiFi access as well as provide local Ethernet access to devices in your house/apartment.
He'd be better off using said router in repeater mode. DD-WRT allows you to take an existing wireless access point and extend its range wirelessly this way.

My 15" i7 has fantastic connections! It is even showing some neighbor's networks that I never knew existed before because they didn't show up on my HP laptop, Dell XPS desktop, or iPhone.

i think it varies from laptop to laptop or maybe position to position. Perhaps devices or materials around can affect it.

Oh by the way, bursaspor is the champions!!

FYI, My MBP i17 has the best wifi reception of any other device we own including 2 PC laptops. You may a problem that needs addressed.

For those reporting a low signal strength. I would be interesting to do the following in a terminal and post the results on this thread:

/usr/local/bin/airport -s

Also you can option+click the AirPort icon to get the RSSI and data rate of your connection.

The actual path to the command is:

"/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/airport"

Hmm..

WiFi reception SUCKS!

I use a commercial Cisco WiFi system that half of my neighborhood uses and all my computers get full bars on wifi including my iPad and iMac but my new i7 MBP is lucky to get one bar!

The aluminum unibody looks good but must be a big impediment to the RF on WIFi !

Do what? Something is up with your machine or mine is the "Superman" of MBP's. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X200 Tablet, a 2007 MBP, an Alienware M17X laptop and a 2010 MBP and my 2010 MPB picks up my Wifi at a FAR greater distance than the lenovo or alienware. In my room, about 200 feet from my router (I have a *long* house) my MBP has 4 bars of internet reception. The alienware has 0 bars (can't get access) and the lenovo has 2 bars. All have Wireless N cards in them. I have a 17" i7, 8GB ram, 512SSD machine. My reception is absolutely phenomenal.

Err0xx

apparently for my case, my white late 2007 macbook has better reception den my i5 mbp.. surfing in my room, the former will show full bar connection while the i5 shows four bars... :)

poor reception

But are you seeing any performance drops when you compare the white MB and the new MBP ?
Also the MB is plastic so it will have better reception compared to the aluminum bodied MBP>

My 2009 13" MBP gets the best reception of literally any laptop I have used or serviced (so that would be nearing 100 soon).
