I didn't get an iPod until the 3rd gen, which I still use as my music iPod (Touch is just a PDA for me). I put a new battery in it January 09, so it still does decent on continuous play mode. I really like the red backlight on the buttons and the fact that there are no moving parts. I'll keep on using it until it kicks the bucket.

How did you get the rainbow Apple on it?

I left my old trustworthy 3G iPod 15 GB back home when I went out of state for college, as it's battery life leaves it with maybe 25 minutes of playtime. I'm pretty sure it'd stop a bullet it's so thick, which would actually come in handy considering the school I'm attending is in downtown Detroit.:D

When I get back home in a month, I'm ordering a new battery for it. This dinky little 3G nano 4 GB that my brother lent me is just too small to hold my primary music collection...

Good heavens use the TIMG tag!

I used to love my 15gb 3G iPod, replaced it with a 2G Mini which wasn't a great move. Had the Mini for years before upgrading to a 5G iPod (80gb one) and haven't found a reason to upgrade to a Classic or Touch yet!
If the next iPod Touch update includes a camera and hits 128gb then I'll make the switch.

My 1G is back at home, as is my 3G with box, and unopened headphones - w/ remote. I'm such a nerd. But I also got a 3G off of lanray and brought it with me to uni. Here is its awesomeness.

1 - wow it's filthy. Those recessed buttons really pick up grit like nothing else!
2- I haven't touched it for months. and it still had a charge.
