Ooooh Microsoft Bob! I forgot about that example of "Skeumorphism gone bad". Adding a screenshot for everyone to see what it looked like, 17 years ago:

OMG, the flashbacks I just had... Bob was the greatest thing ever if you were like 12 years old (like I was). Then again, that probably lends to the notion that Skeumorphism can often come across as a bit corny and immature.

It looks old-fashioned, but I don't think it's completely worthless. A calculator with real buttons is much more approachable than a flat, colorless one.

It's alright. I don't feel strongly one way or another. But let's not make the mistake and believe Forstall's love of skeuomorphisms had anything to do with his firing.

I only like it in musical instrument emulators.

Ditto, don't want it anywhere near my smartphone apps though. It usually just takes up space that could have been spent providing information or clean, negative space.

I like it too.
It's these pseudo intellectual apple fanboys that don't.
The one that think they know how to make everything better than the people who have created things. Yet these same people probably haven't created a thing in their lives.

LOL, now "fanboys" are "pseudo intellectuals" ??? Heh, good one, that's an upscale move for some of us, I'm sure.

You've no clue what people have or have not created unless you live or work with them. Just so you know.

As for skeumorphisms: piano keyboards, sí, but to stitches on the fricken pseudo-leather calendar, good riddance soon, I hope.

I was 17 and found it fantastic! For about 2 days. Like the Microsoft paperclip helper in Office.
