seriously I can't imagine fitting a 10" iPad into my pocket. And I'm not a lady so I don't carry bag so that's another problem. for me there are two choices:
a) get a sex change and buy myself a fashionable bag that can fit 10" iPad
b) wait till Jobs flips over in his grave and the Cook cooks up a 7" iPad
and really, what is up with so many 7" iPad haters? I have a simple solution for you DO NOT BUY 7" iPAD!!!!

Are you kidding me? There are plenty of manly or gender neutral bags you could use to carry the 10 inch iPad, don't think the "I don't want to carry a purse" excuse holds any water.

That said, I'm not hating the idea of a 7" iPad. Like you say, I wouldn't buy one, but I can understand why some people might prefer that size. It's just that people come in here asking why Apple hasn't made one yet, and I'm just giving some speculations on why they may have valid reasons for not making one.

Good luck to the poster who thinks he will be able to fit a 7" device in a pocket of any pair of shorts or pants.
Another poster with no concept of size. My HTC Flyer, Archos 70it, and any other 7" tablet I have fit fine in the thigh pocket of my cargo/painter slacks and shorts. They fit fine in the inside chest pocket of my coats as well.

Ok, so maybe some men's clothes have large enough pockets for a 7" tablet. Being a woman, I don't own any clothes with pockets that big. And I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt most business suits have pockets big enough for a 7" tablet.

Point is, let's not assume what works for one of us works for everyone else. People with pockets big enough for 7" tablets find them convenient because they don't need a bag to carry them around -- fine, I get that. For those of us who don't have that kind of clothes, 7" or 9", we still need a bag.

Aside from cargo shorts, I have no idea what kind of pockets this guy has in his other clothes. Why the heck does one need to carry a smartphone and 7" tablet in their pockets? (assuming he has a smart phone) Overkill anyone?

Well, ok, "not viable" may be a bit too extreme, but IMO, stretching or shrinking existing apps to fit a 7 inch screen will likely leave us with a UI that doesn't function well, in the sense of not being pleasant to use. So then, in order to be fully functional, most apps will need a third layout scheme. Problem is, even now, with two different sizes, developers often start out with an app in just one size, then take forever to come out with the other size, or sometimes just never get around to it. Three sizes, and the problem will be worse. I think eventually the iOS ecosystem will mature enough to support more screen sizes, but I also think Apple shouldn't rush the process.

No doubt some thought will have to be put behind it, simply re-scaling the app doesn't always work (app support immediately after iPad release perfect example). But nothing along the lines of what I've responded to from poloponies.

I think we're approaching a divergence in these mobile technologies on all platforms, one size doesn't fit all. Give us a choice for 4 inch screened phones and 7inch screened tablets.

Only a women could write this and not see the sexual inuendo's littered throughout. lol

But you prayers may be answered next year, if the rumors of a 7.85" iPad mini are to be believed.
And only a man would notice.#

Who cares if the pocket is big enough. Why on earth would u want to put anything that big in any size pocket. That's just rediculous.

flip it so the button is on top problem solved.

1. Some apps don't rotate.
2. Speaker on top, is muffled.

What is really funny is I did not mention putting oversized pockets on anything.
I have a travel bag and flight bag, and would prefer a slightly smaller iPad to carry around.

Yes, I totally get not wanting to carry around a larger bag. I do have some smaller bags that would be perfect for a 7” tablet, and it's a shame they don't get much use anymore, but for me, I like the size of the current iPad enough that I'm willing to put up with having to carry a bigger bag. I totally understand other people preferring a smaller size tablet, though But it is ridiculous to claim 7" tablets fit in a pocket. Sure, there are some pockets large enough for it, but for most people, I don't think that will be the main way to carry a 7" tablet.
