If you're extremely shy, and you're not part of the "cool group", how did you become Prom King??

Sorry, but the only thing I know about prom is what I see in movies. :confused :

Congrats on becoming Prom King - hope you had a blast - and thanks for posting that really cute photo of you and your date.

I'm with jav6454 (my esteemed Don in another world) on this; you can hunt WWs, and inhabit the esoteric world of Apple effortlessly, but contemplating a semi-formal dance in public is another matter entirely.

Anyway, congrats are in order - well done, and I hope you had a great night.

Doesn't this describe the majority of forum frequenters?

:)

We had a prom court, but no slow dance. Our proms were the only thing my school did well.

Our dance floor was covered in bubble wrap and there was loud music, flashing lights, confetti, streamers, lots of fun, and parties afterwards at peoples houses.

I went to another schools prom and it was awful. 50's music, no one was excited or happy, no flashing lights, bubble wrap, or confetti, and there was a prom court dance that no one paid attention to.

EDIT: Holy crap I just realized how "debbie downer" that sounded. That wasn't my intent!

Good luck on your dance OP and I wouldn't sweat it too much. Just don't step on her toes ;)

You left the party early to write on this forum?

Sounds more like prom joker than prom king

Perhaps it does......

Speak for yourself! I'm a pretty decent ballroom dancer. :p

Well done - I'm impressed - that is a genuinely impressive accomplishment and one I'd love to emulate - seriously.

Whatever about some of the forms of modern dance, I've always been impressed at the effortless cool of those who can ballroom dance with grace, elegance and panache.

I've always wanted to be able to ballroom dance.

Sigh. Me, too, to a certain extent.

Jealous that he went home early to use an internet forum?!
I went home early because I was tired and had things to do in the morning. I was joking with -aggie-.

Because not everyone who goes to prom is in the cool group?

I decided at an early age that grinding (and the similar gross stuff you see around) was emphatically *not* for me. But social dancing is great -- the community is generally super friendly and gliding around the room in a viennese waltz really speaks to my inner 5-year-old's desire to be a Disney princess! :D

Yes, indeed, the 'grinding' and 'other gross stuff' as you have so aptly termed it, doesn't do it for me, either. But I'm very impressed that you can ballroom dance; I've always enjoyed the classy look and cool elegance that good ballroom dancers manage to convey. Bravo.
