I know a bunch of you will disagree but I miss the headphone jack. I don't want to use wireless because wires don't bother me and it is another item to charge. I use headphones a lot so I would be charging multiple times a day.

So far, the lightening port isn't that great for headphones. Sometimes the controls stop working, sometimes there is no sound, and sometimes it doesn't recognize headphones and plays through the speakers. It is usually a simple pull out and plug back in but it is just annoying.

Apple did provide a dongle and at first it seemed pretty good but after two weeks, the 3.5 mm jack side is starting to loosen and I have to replug my headphones.

Then you have others like me who never use the headphone jack. Most of my older phones have the headphone jack full of lint and dust.

Why do you need to charge multiple times a day? My 7+ lasts from 7AM to 10PM and has around 25-40% battery life left, so I just charge it at night.

So far, the lightening port is great for headphones. It works just like the old ones. Bluetooth works even better. No wires to get tangled up and the batteries in mine last me days. Not having wires get tangled up is fantastic.

Apple did provide a dongle and it works fine for me if I want to actually use a wired set of headphones.

I miss the headphone jack for the ability to listen and charge, but honestly I rarely need both at the same time.

So overall not missing the 3.5mm too much.

What brand do you use where you can use headphones multiple times a day and have the batteries last for days. I am looking for some Bluetooth headphones. Thanks.

Yeah, I read to that there's no way to control the volume directly from the Airpods. I need that feature. Some songs play louder than others and it would be nice to control and lower the volume when it exists. I agree, it doesn't seem that lightening port is sturdy enough.

I#m waiting for the new Beats wireless with the W1 chip! Until then I'm pretty much annoyed by the lack of the port because my old headphone won't work without the silly dongle, wich I refuse to use :D

Why are you mocking the OP by using his own words with an opposite viewpoint?

I dont own an iphone 7.

But my samsung s3/note2/note3/mega and now my iphone 6s+ never used the 3.5mm port.

I got some cheapo chinese headphones off ebay and they are ok fro my music.
only use wired on my imac.

Some people have expensive wired headphones and I do understand the annoyance of not being able to use them is some situations.

Wasn't entirely my intent to mock. Just to show that there is an opposite viewpoint and that one persons negatives is another one positive.

Just imagine how annoying it would be if everyone that doesn't miss the headphone jack posted their opinion?

Biggest reason I didn't upgrade to the 7.
I use the jack a lot and have yet to find a decent BT set without spending mega bucks. This is both from a sound quality and battery life.
Thanks for the real life example.

It is a shame and a missed opportunity (AirPods 2 anyone :D) that they didn't implement more on device controls for the AirPods. Don't suppose you've got an Apple Watch? That's the only thing that takes the sting out of it for me, at least I can use my Watch for easy controls. But on the headphones would have been much preferred.

This annoying? I won't miss it a bit, I've got Bluetooth cans, I'm getting AirPods and my good wired headphones will get the adapter plonked on them :)

The thing about the Lightning port being a little looser now is something I predicted and we'll see more of in the coming months.

The 3.5mm jack was a very robust connector. The Lightning port wasn't bad, but nowhere as good.

I haven't used the headphone jack on an iPhone since my 5S so i really am not missing it at all.
I can understand how it must be frustrating for people who used to use it and charge at the same time a lot, I guess there's more people who do they than I thought based on the abundance of negative posts on here!
I'm sure in time you'll all learn to adjust your routine and habits to accommodate the change. If you want to stick with Apple/iPhones you don't really have a choice as it won't be coming back!

But the OP wasn't disputing the fact that there was an opposite viewpoint. He even started his post with "I know a bunch of you will disagree..."

I haven't purchased a 7 and still have my 6S, so I'm interested in the experiences, whether positive or negative, of others who are dealing with the lack of headphone jack.

Theoretically it should be pretty solid, it is designed to support a good bit more than the full weight of the device, when it's in a dock for example along with a case/battery case and so on. But yeah, curious how this will pan out.

I'm not sure us lot on here are an entirely accurate representation of the general public ;) I don't dispute the fact that the removal of the headphone jack is an issue for some. Of course it's an issue, it's a seriously significant change. But for every handful of those of us who complain about it here, there's probably a few million Joe publics who just don't give a damn. They'll use the EarPods that came with the phone.

I think you're right. I don't think the few million joe publics will also care about alleged hisses, yellow tinted screens and next to invisible micro scratches on their Jet Black iPhones. This forum does attract a certain type of tech enthusiast!

I agree totally and will not be buying a 7. My 6 may last for a very very long time. In the past I have upgraded every 2 years. Why stay with 6?

Headphone jack. I dislike having to have a blue tooth device near my head. I don't trust that it is safe.
- BT headphones are easier to lose... and we have lost plenty of those wired headphones.
- Wired are cheap and I can have a headset stashed in multiple locations if needed.
- wired can be hung around your neck when not in use.. bt need to be held or put in a pocket.

Well, if you're making a serious statement and not being facetious, I'll assume the former. They really won't, not based on my experiences with scores of people. They buy it, they use it, they don't give a damn.

I have a friend who's on his third cracked iPhone 5s screen and this crack, which is by no means insubstantial, has been there now for over 5 months. But it still responds to touch, you can still more or less make out the vast majority of the on-screen content. So he's not really giving two hoots.
It would drive me batty, but then, I'm one of us, not one of them ;)
