I never use the headphone jack. In high school when I used a headphone jack with a portable CD player it never came out of the CD player.

How does someone presumably an adult that can afford the $100+ A month phone bill not have a job or stay busy or not have a car with Bluetooth?

Maybe it's my morphine kicking in (well, seriously kicked in already to be fair) but you lost me there. Not have a job? How is that connected to the headphone Jack? Just out of curiosity.

judging much?

Wasn't entirely my intent to mock. Just to show that there is an opposite viewpoint and that one persons negatives is another one positive.

Just imagine how annoying it would be if everyone that doesn't miss the headphone jack posted their opinion?
Wasn't it? (SIC!)
It's a Forum. Anyone is entitled to have even an annoying opinion as we could witness in post #3.
I would miss the 3.5 mm jack as I use solely wired headphones.

Frankly I'm insulted. What about my annoying opinions :p

Here's another one, just for fun, I too love my wired headphones, more than my Bluetooth ones even though they are a really good pair, they don't compare to wired for sound quality. However and bear in mind this is just me, what I do, so not against anyone else.

I'm not annoyed by the shift at all. I've spent a lot of years using things like a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch jack adapter for my wired cans, didn't bother me then, doesn't bother me now. As far as I'm concerned, the need to use a little adaptor for my headphones to work on my iPhone 7 Plus (when the bugger arrives) is no different to that. Connect, plug in, enjoy, simple.

What's a headphone jack?

It's a thing you put on your ears to hear sound Bob.

It's such an environmental waste to produce literally hundreds of millions of heaphones sold with every iPhone that are now useless. Chalk up another green score for Apple.

They're not useless. I've used my old EarPod headphones with the adapter and on a bluetooth receiver... haven't even opened my Lightning Earpods yet.

Then you have others like me who never use the headphone jack. Most of my older phones have the headphone jack full of lint and dust.

Why do you need to charge multiple times a day? My 7+ lasts from 7AM to 10PM and has around 25-40% battery life left, so I just charge it at night.
Exaggeration? Hyperbole? Headphone jack full of lint and dust? How about a lightning jack full of lint and dust?

I've never experienced this in any devices with dust or lint in a 3.5mm jack.

Everyone everywhere is entitled to an opinion. And everyone else is entitled to agree, disagree, or mock that opinion.

Boy, Apple really ripped me off. I only got one headphone with my iPhone. OTOH the one that I got is still useful.

I am really sorry that you feel being insulted. :p;)
I use only wired headphones for the reason you have mentioned.

In never use it, while I use a lightning port every day to charge.

I'm finding it annoying at the gym. Need the adapter to listen to music on my phone, but then to watch TV and plug into the gyms audio, need to remove the adapter and make sure I don't lose it. If I get Bluetooth or lightening earphones, then I still need to bring my normal headphones too.

Pain in the apple. Lol

Get a bluetooth dongle receiver. $13 on Amazon and you can still use your favorite headphones.

Theoretically it should be pretty solid, it is designed to support a good bit more than the full weight of the device, when it's in a dock for example along with a case/battery case and so on. But yeah, curious how this will pan out.

I plug my phone into a stand every night to change and every time I get in the car via lightning. The few times I used the new headphones I have to really tug on the cable to get them out. So far for me the lightning cable is far stronger a connection than 3.5 which I could easily yank out.

I'm the same, been plugging my 6+ into a dock by my bedside every night for over a year now (it's a replacement, which is why it's only a year ish. Replaced because of the mute switch, nothing to do with the Lightning port.) Almost every day of the week it gets a Lightning cable plugged in/removed dozens of times and wiggled about quite a bit when it does so (I develop apps, so there's a lot of cable connecting and movements for up to 18 hours a day.)

Now obviously I can't speak for the 7, or 7+ because my sodding 7 Plus hasn't arrived yet. But what I can say is that after all that time of seriously intensive use, the Lightning port on my 6+ is still solid. I can plug a Lightning cable into it, lift it up by the cable and let it hang there no problem. That's not bad going for such a tiny little port that gets such intensive use. So I don't see why the 7 should be any different.

I used my headphones a lot at work and honestly don't miss it like I expected. I just have the dongle in my headphone case and it's mostly an afterthought since the battery actually lasts me long enough now. I will probably pick up the airpods when they come out so it's even less of an issue. I would rather have decent sounding wireless earbuds than have to deal with jerking my phone into the floor every time I rotate my chair because the arm rest somehow always finds the cord.

I haven'tuse wired 'phones for about 3-4 years now, but I used to get the damn wire caught on everything. One thing I did to avoid this was run the wire inside my shirt collar and either out between buttons on a shirt, or under the shirt if untucked.

This little inconvenience made me try wireless and I haven't looked back since.

I use bluetooth sometimes but my wired headphones still sound a LOT better than the wireless ones I have. My car has bluetooth as well so that helps quite a bit. I don't need the aux cable for anything at all. Can't count the times I have turned and whipped my phone off my desk and into the floor though lol.

It would be a bigger burden to me to manage the wireless re: power, but different strokes...

Between my iPod and my phone...snagging the cable when plugged into either, was never an issue.
