...I got a total of a little more than 9 hours.

I used my iPhone's stopwatch every time I turn on and use my iPad. Total time does not include standby.

-Set-up my iPad as new.
-60% brightness
-Location Service on for 'Find My iPad' only
-Push email de-activated
-Bluetooth off
-Mainly surfed the net, Flipboard, emailing

I know this has been tackled before but I just want to chime in about the 'actual' use time I got from my iPad.

Hope this is normal. :)

Very normal. While I didn't go to the extremes you have with the stopwatch, I have about the same setup (bluetooth & push off, etc), and get roughly the same battery life.

Sounds about right. In my general Internet browsing use, I noticed that if I lower the brightness to just below 50%, even 47% lol, it makes a huge difference.

I've clocked mine several times and seem to be consistently using about 6-7% per hour implying a 13-15 hr runtime. Last test ran it for 10 hours to 33% batt remaining before recharging. I basically run it with everything off except wifi and push notification, and am primarily surfing, typing in forums.

I do run my screen quite low though, probably 20% on average.

I got my iPad on Monday and I'm amazed at how long the battery lasts. I was concerned by some of the first reports that claimed the iPad's battery wasn't lasting. I can't imagine how the average user could blast through a full charge in less than 9 hours.

During the day, I turn the brightness down to about 40-45% and at night, it goes up to about 50-55%. The brightness makes a huge difference.

You must be the only person who adjusts the battery this way...usually it's the other way around: more brightness during the day and less at night. :)

This is certainly not normal. Put the stop watch away and enjoy your device. :)

Yup, I already put it down. Just want to make sure my battery is up to snuff after reading other people's post. Before I did this, the time I spent with my iPad seemed short...I guess time flies when we're having fun. Using a stopwatch made me realize time is not as fast as I thought. :)

I don't know how anyone can complain about the battery life if you get 9hrs out of it + standby time... that's just way more than enough :)

Because if they only get 8 hours and 59 minutes they would want to replace it as defective.

I got better things to do in my life than tracking the time my I used my iPad. When will we get all these people back to WORK!

Try decoding (playing) some HD videos. See how the battery life runs down by twice as fast.

Try playing some video games. It'll wear down faster. Not everyone just browse internet as normal use on iPads.

;)

We all strive to get our money's worth...don't you? :)

Try gaming with a gpu instensive app and you'll see 9 becoming 3.

I think we're all aware of that. This experiment is about normal usage and not intensive gaming.

Yes but after having the iPad 1, 2 and now 3, I can relax and just use it. People here are so OCD that they are measuring their time on their iPad to make sure they are not getting cheated out of a little battery time?

Sorry but most have better things to do in life, other act like there is nothing more important than their iPad!

I've had the iPad 1. I did the same thing and found out it had a defective battery and had it replaced. The difference was 2 hours less than what Apple rated it for.

My better things to do in life include looking after myself and my possessions...that's why I did this experiment. It also cost me nothing. Damn, I even thought of an app to develop now based on this.

Some people just don't care and it's those same people who sadly don't know what's hitting them from behind.
