I need a few new TV series to watch

The Tudors season 1 was awesome, where they had Sam Neil as Wolsey. I lost interest after that.

Chuck is my favorite show at the moment, original and funny. I was skeptical at first, but it turned out to be a great show.

Gossip Girl is not too great. Way too generic, and generally poor acting. It's more like a "guilty pleasure" type of show.

No love for Mad Men?? I thought someone would back me up!
It's a great show, set in late 1960s Madison Avenue advertising era, it oozes quality and style. Great cast, great script, watch it!

Oops, I forgot that. Put Mad Men in my 'better' category. Great show, especially because I'm in the business.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm going to give House, Prison Break, Entourage and Californication a shot. I'll report back in a month on how I like them.

My current favorites:

Harper's Island
Similar to that of Ten Little Indians, has the whole who done it plot. Started off a little slow, but by last nights episode (6th), it has gotten super intense. Since every thing will be wrapped up at the end of the season, there will be no strings left untied.

Heroes
Started off great, but has gone downhill..... :(

Doesn't really have the whole continuous plot line thing, but its very funny.

Lots of great shows mentioned in this thread, I think I'll have to check out a bunch of them! I'm in the middle of watching some of the shows though like The O.C. and some others. OK, I'll admit it I like Gossip Girl-not that I'd actually tell anyone that... I'm only about 4 or 5 episodes in though of the first season.
I can't believe that no one mentioned Veronica Mars yet- a great series that shouldn't have been canceled. I've seen almost the entire show except for the 3/4 of the 3rd season. It's a teen show, but isn't super teeny boppery (especially the 1st season). :apple:

Not sure what watching Gossip Girl says about me...

Agreed. Mad Men is most excellent and a fascinating look into '60s pop culture, advertising and the roles of men and women. The level of detail is great, too.

If it wasn't for Tracy Jordan, I'd like that show more. He is so irritating, and the thin plot, lack of a continuing storyline and many unengaging characters just conspired to cast me off..

Its got to be The West Wing for me. Watched all the series 3 times through and still not sick of it. The writing isn't as good in the last 3 series as Aaron Sorkin left the program but it is still better then a lot of the programs out there.

Also agree with The Big Bang Theory. Funniest thing on TV at the mo. I take it there is a third season on the way?

I don't think anyone has mentioned it but Jericho is a really good show that really grips you. It only lasted 1 and a half series but has a nice concise ending and makes for a good back to back watching... (i.e. one a night for a few weeks!)

Life On Mars (original version, not US remake).

there is an original? I love the US one, if that is the case. I think I like it mainly for the retro clothes, the slang and most of all the cars and music. Brings me back to my youth. I just wished it wasn't cancelled. Or is this being renewed?

TV shows I would recommend:

Chuck
The, Big Bang Theory - Mondays NBC (best 30 min. spent)
House - Mondays
Castle - Mondays
In Plain Sight - Sundays
Psych - Fridays USA network
Ghost Whisperer - Fridays CBS
NCIS - Tuesday CBS

I love Psych. I bought seasons 1 & 2, season 3 should be out this summer on dvd, I don't have cable right now, so i'm sure if season 4 has started yet.
