Crap! I came home to a dead Netgear wireless router. This one lasted only two years. I guess I wear them out downloading pr0n or something. Anyway, at least I finally found a use for the 3G part of my iPad!
I need a new wireless router and I think I've narrowed it down to two units:
1. Netgear N750 450 Mbps Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router WNDR4000
2. Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station
I really don't know why the Apple unit is sooo expensive (other than it being an Apple, I mean) but it is highly rated on the Apple site and Amazon.
It's $30 difference between the two. Anyone have an opinion or have another suggestion? I need one ASAP!
Thanks!
The Apple product to what I have read maybe expensive, but it's very reliable!
I purchased the WNDR3700 and it is now dead after only 9 months and Netgear refuses to replace it! Terrible customer support. So I went and purchased the new Cisco Linksys E4200. It was working fine for a week, now I have weak WIFI signals and now it's dropping my internet. I disconnected it and reconnected my old D-Link Gamers Lounge Router (forget the model) and no issues at the moment. I want to get my devices back on a N network though so I am returning it today for a Airport Extreme and hoping for the best as I am sick of buying routers that are worthless junk. Per the reviews many are having the same issues too and switched and now are happy.
The Linksys degradation over time is a software issue easily solved by replacing the included firmware. You see this on many of their routers.
Well I did update the firmware already to the latest. Still no fix. Why should I do this to any router period especially one this expensive? It should just work. Heck, wish I could afford a Sonicwall like I have at work.![]()
Internet provider, Comcast.
90% of time I use AEBS model A1354, no problems, just works.
10% of time I switch to DLink model DIR-655, when I need NAT loopback capability.
