Congrats!!! Keep it up. :)

Congratulations! I hope that you continue to get better with practice. I myself can't stand automatics. My left leg/foot has nothing to do! :p

best way to learn is to feel the clutch

once the car is moving, press the clutch in - shift into first

then start slowing releasing the clutch --- you'll feel the friction point, and then the car will start moving on it's own -- keep going until you stall

if you do it twice the third time you'll know exactly where the friction point is and you'll be able to add gas accordingly.

with this technique mastered you'll never have roll back regardless of how steep the hill is.

their is the more popular E brake method but that's to many things to think about. --- plus my car had a foot E brake not a pull lever like others.

It's cliché but very true...once you've been driving stick long enough you don't actually think about shifting any longer...you just do it.

Plus, hill starts get a lot easier. I can start my manual car on a steep hill with no roll and no handbrake (though if I have a guy behind me bothering me occasionally I'll burn out a little bit if he's really on my tail, by accident :p).

start the car holding the clutch in like you said,

make sure the car is in nuetral( shake shifter lef tto right to make shure it moves freely)

shift the car into first gear(whcih is all the way up to the left)

slowly apply your foot to the gas, and you even out your foot with the clutch

*** DONT IMEDITLY LET OFF THE CLUTCH ONCE YOU FEEL THE CAR START MOVING***

if you do this the car will stall.

just keep evening out th clutch till you are going at a steady pase.

its just liek ridng a dirtbike, or quad.

the hardest thing about a manual trans is timing.

Yes, it's foot off the gas, clutch in, shift gear, then release the clutch and give it gas at the same time. I don't drive yet, but I know how to shift from driving my ATV. It's exactly the same.
Its a slight bit different than riding an atv, but what you sadi is basically correct. Depending on how recent the car is it should be pretty easy. Just try not to start on a hill, cause you will most likely stall it, roll back into something, or grind the tranny. Hope it goes well!
