I bought my Ibook a few weeks ago but I just ordered an Apple Keyboard, Icurve and Case from their site yesterday, now the waiting game begins.

Congrats to everyone who got their Ibook, I know you'll enjoy it.

I wont touch AppleCare, its useless. They treat you sh*t all the same. I did buy extra ram though :D

I have been very satisfied with AppleCare. On some purchases it has more than paid for itself. Have a local Apple Store makes it even more valuable. I consider it a necessity.

...bought a 14" ibook for my wife last night through Amazon. Free shipping, $150 rebate, no tax.... :)

Ha, thanks for noticing... Actually, the very best that could happen, happened. My older sister wanted an Apple laptop to replace her ailing Dell (er, it won't even shut down all the way). When I suggested she take my PB and I get a new iBook she was less than thrilled, (who wants a hand-me-down, right?). But when I told her to go look at them both in person, and she finally did, she called me bashfully admiting that she liked the look and feel of the PB more.

I agree, but since it will be her primary computer, I don't mind sacrificing a little bit... especially since the iBook will complement my iMac G5 (my primary computer) so well. :D ;)
Oh thats so good, I'm so happy for you, not having to do with an unknown buyer. Yes, the G5 iMacs and the iBooks look gorgeous together!!!! So, I extend the utmost congrats to you!!!

ooooo, add another to the list. Just bought myself a 15" PB 1.5 GHz SD 80 GHD. And through that, add another switcher, cuz this ibooks going to my sister. And now the waiting game begins.

wow i rele wish i could contribute a little more to this thread.....i havn't bought nething for a while, but am gonna get a :( PC :( soon, just fer games and stuff though. i rele want a new pb but i can't justify that considering they've only undergone one update since i bought mine which was a year and a bit ago

i'm personally not excited by the prospect of watching videos on a little screen. the video pod fetish has been lost on me.

as far as the intel 'books go, i'm looking for this ibook to carry me through the next few years--3-4 years of phd. by that time, the intel macs have been released, the kinks worked out and i can enjoy the newer improved and stabilized platform. i'm not interested in being a pioneer. i'll wait for the revisions. in the meantime, i'm ready to enjoy my 'book that's on the way.

Congrats. You'll love it.

I suggest maxing out the RAM.. it makes it smooooooooooth.

:)

Absolutely! :D My ibook 12" 1.33 is smooth as melted butter with 1.5 GB of RAM. Unfortunately, I only have the 40 GB hard drive, but that's what my powermac is for. :) :)

IT HAS ARRIVED!!!! Yipeee

Btw, this post was done on my new iBook! It's first MacRmors post! It's a nice machine! Really cute but really white so it'll get dirty easy! All in working order, no dead pixels! Great!

congrats to all.... I am intensley jealous...

P.S. Get Applecare with your new portables, my mom has an iBook G4 thats 1.5 years old and has been having issues, and she now has to pay $50 to talk to apple support to figure out whats wrong and another $300 for a one time service by apple (its either a bad logic board or hard drive). Anyway, it would have been cheaper just to get applecare in the begining and still have 1.5 years left on the coverage..just a thought

I ordered a 12 inch iBook with 60 Gb hard drive, a 20 Gb iPod and an iSight on Monday. I was in America on holiday (just arrived back home to England) and wanted to get it for when I came back, but couldn't phone the 0800 number from the US, so had to find a non-freephone number of theirs from yell.com and they put me through to sales. I was going to order online but by phoning them I got a higher education discount, which saved me over £40 on top of the regular education discount, and Applecare for £170 including VAT. (They told me on the phone that I could only get this discount - normal price £199 - if I ordered it then.)

It's going to be despatched on Friday, so they said to expect delivery on Monday. I can't wait to stroke it! :D

Better late that never: I am THOROUGHLY enjoying the third day with my 15" PowerBook. I've pretty much got it how I want it, and to everyone who has ordered but has not received, you're gonna like your mac! Who would have thought mac sales seem to be doing so well right before the switch?? I guess the numbers will tell.

While waiting for my powerbook to arrive, I'm shopping around for som RAM. I'd like to max it out and I think i can max it out to 2 GB. I'm waiting on a refurb 1.5 GHz 15 inch PB which comes with 512 MB of RAM. Now, are there two slots where I get one 1GB stick and one 512MB stick? I'm thinking of getting it from OWC cuz they're cheaper than crucial, and have some RAM from them in this ibook. Well, can't wait for this beast to arrive. :D

Yes, on the 15-incher there are two slots. One will be occupied, by the 512 stick. You can remove it, if you wish to put something higher in place of it, and you can put your choice in the free one.

You're going to have a great machine. It is so much fun getting a new Mac. Enjoy it!

thanks, it's scheduled to come on friday. i hate this waiting game. when i got my ibook last time, i couldn't wait and just decided to go to the apple store to buy one even though i should have ordered on line to get a BTO one.

Go iBooks!

While we are all posting our new comps, I am typing this thread on a 2 day old 12" iBook w/60GB HD. So awesome. Oh, and for whoever said that they aren't buying any more PPC, PPC will have to last most of us a while, cus my next laptop will have a merom processor, and until then, this will suit me just fine.

It came yesterday, and i am now using my nice 15" pbook. I got it refurb from apple and the only thing wrong with it is a small cosmetic flaw right above the button that delatches the lid. The little piece of alum there juts out ever so slightly. I don't know if it's worth sending back to apple. I don't want to have to wait another whole week to get this baby back.

Wow, this screen is beautiful.

Well that's a great comment to tell someone after they ALREADY ordered one.

Not me. I got my iBook to last me till the Intel PBs show up. I paid $800ish (after I sold the free iPod) for a 12" model. I figure I can either grab an Intel early if it seems all the bugs are worked out. If not, I can wait for a second generation. I really don't think I'll lose all that much money when the Intels come out.
