So...for ages now I’ve been wondering what effect a Cape Cod cloth would have on a Space Grey Aluminium watch. I’m waiting on my titanium model to arrive this week and giving my Series 4 to a family member. I was polishing/buffing my silver iPhone 11 stainless steel edges and decided to give it a try. I do realise how Cape Cod cloths work and only slightly polished the watch around 10 times on each side as to not remove the space grey anodized layer. I think the result is fantastic.

It looks like a cross between titanium and aluminium. Shiny and catches the light. I’ve tried to take some photos to show it off. Obviously if you do something like this proceed with caution. I guess the silver aluminium would buff up just as well. Note - there are no signs of the silver coming through the space grey. I was careful especially around the edges of the band connectors. What do you think? In my opinion it looks better than the matt finish usually on this model/colour.

Looks awesome! I wonder what the results would be on a SB SS AW4....

Well, it’s shiny already so I wouldn’t use anything on it other than a minute amount of furniture spray polish. If even that. My old SB SS was pristine when I sold it and I only ever washed it with detergent and a quick polish with a rag. This aluminium watch was not scratched at all before I polished it. I doubt the method would remove scratches.

Congrats dude you just saved yourself a few hundred bucks, no need to buy a Ti now.
All jokes aside it looks pretty sexy.
Haha. Well my Dad is happy as he’s the one getting this one now. Wish I tried it sooner! Actually I polished it once more and it’s now even more like titanium in certain light. Can’t wait for my real one to arrive now.

WOW! That looks really, really awesome! Tempted to try this on a silver Alu where you‘d not even have to be so careful, I guess ...

Wow, It looks really sharp. I won’t hesitate to try this myself in the future. Thanks for being the experiment.

No worries. Just remember to pay particular attention to the bits either side of the crown as they are hardest to reach. The other three sides have no obstructions.

That looks far too much like the ceramic. There is no way Apple would ever offer this but it's seriously nice.

Wish I still had my alu to try it haha. Let us know how it holds up over time ie. whether it tarnishes etc.

Thanks a lot. Funny, I’m still wearing it until my titanium arrives - a couple of people at work asked me what model it was as the light now catches it. Super shiny glossy grey. :)

Did you attempt to polish the crown as well or did you just leave it as is? If it is the latter, does the unpolished matte crown „stand out“ vs. the shiny body now?

I also polished the crown. I held it and polished one section at a time - but less so than the watch itself as the anodized layer might be thinner due to the size/cut of the metal. Looks shiny too so it matches

Awesome that you went the extra mile with the crown, too! If I can find a cheap (broken) silver aluminium Watch on ebay, I may try to find out if the results are equally great as with the space grey.

That looks outstanding! I'm planning on getting the Aluminium Series 3 pretty soon and I might try this on it. How long did it take you?
