Not to keep going on about it, but, after a couple of days the finish is still as glossy as it was when I polished it. It looks great. I can confidently say that anyone who has some Cape Cod cloths at home and a space grey aluminium watch can easily polish the watch to make it glossy. None of the space grey finish has been removed..and I have eagle eyes. Don’t be super vigorous - I counted 10 stokes back and forth on each side and then used a lint free cloth to shine it, then repeated this until it all looked glossy. Pay particular attention around the crown as it’s hard to get in there. Go lightly on the crown itself. Hold it to do completely around it or it just spins.

Honestly I was thinking of cancelling my titanium watch but I promised this watch to my dad. It has definitely breathed new life into plain space grey aluminium. Almost comparable in finish to the jet black iPhone 7. (But not black obviously) looks great with a white strap. If anyone is interested I’ll post more pics here. At your own risk but I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

Awesome that you went the extra mile with the crown, too! If I can find a cheap (broken) silver aluminium Watch on ebay, I may try to find out if the results are equally great as with the space grey.

I’d love to see how the silver aluminium turns out given the same treatment. I bet it would look great.

That looks outstanding! I'm planning on getting the Aluminium Series 3 pretty soon and I might try this on it. How long did it take you?

Around 15 mins. As long as it took me to drink a cup of coffee :)

I‘d love to see pictures outside in daylight! – And I also thought of the Jet Black iPhone when I saw your post because that’s the „most polished“ aluminum I have ever seen, and it‘s gorgeous.

When my SS4 gets old enough I am thinking of doing the opposite and sanding to get a brushed texture to the steel, be a while yet though 😎

I’ll take some to tomorrow in daylight. Meanwhile - here are two by candlelight. :)

Tried same on my silver aluminium. Maybe a little whiter and more glossy but not too dramatic change. At least I like it.

Looks nice, although I expected the result to be even more shiny/glossy. But it‘s a bit hard to tell from the picture. How long did it take?

Curious, did you have any scratches on the casing before you polished it with The Cape Cod cloth? If so, I’m assuming the cloth removed the scratches?

Just a follow up - one of my friends did the same with his watch but he had a scratch on the bottom of the body of it which the cloths did not remove. Concerning the space grey - you don’t want to remove the anodized finish so scratches won’t be removed. Unless you deliberately rub the finish off - which really would be a huge amount of effort.

I think you could do it more to get a glossier result. Maybe it’s the lighting/angle.

Confession: I received, opened and returned my Titanium watch. After the reviews came in I decided against spending all that cash on a watch marginally different. AOD doesn’t really appeal to me and the GPU/CPU is the same as S4. So I bought my Dad a Series 3 new instead. The cash has went towards my holiday to New Orleans instead. 😊 I’ve become quite attached the polished version. I’ve seen people glance at it as it’s now not like the regular space grey. I’ve posted some more photos. It’s been polished again since my last update and still looks wicked. (Royal Pulse/Lava Glow Nike sport loop)

I created a new account on this site just to report that I was also able to achieve the same level of polish on my space gray apple watch se. Took me around 2 hours to get a consistent polish throughout all the corners and around the crown. Super happy with the result. Definitely elevates the luxurious feel of it since the stainless version is also polished. Granted, the polish isn't at the level where you can see your own reflection, but light bounces off it quite nicely. I also masked off the screen with painters tape before starting b/c I wasn't sure if it had a coating on it that would be rubbed off; just a tip. The anodized coating appears to be thick enough to polish for 2 hrs as well. I was concerned initially that I would polish through the coating and then see the bare aluminum. This turned out to be unfounded. It'll be interesting to see someone else attempt polishing a gold or silver watch.

Not sure what you're using to take photos but the close-ups are focusing more on the texture behind/under the watch. Can you take some shots from further out using the zoom and/or maybe on the wrist? From what I can see it looks pretty amazing.

Never even considered this and wasn't aware you could even polish anodised metal which I assume the Apple watches are. I guess it removes enough of the material to create a smoother surface and hence the shine. Intrigued, might try it on one of my S3 watches.

Well technically, you can’t ‘polish‘ anodized aluminum. Polishing just removes minor artifacts like scratches and scuffs, but in the case of polishing anodized aluminum, you’re essentially removing that complete outer layer/external color, exposing the raw metal. Cape Cod cloths Is the quickest way as a minor abrasive.

I guessed as much, if the anodising is thick enough then maybe minor smoothing effect before the anodising is removed 🤷‍♂️
