And how about the way "those people" say "dispatched" instead of "shipped." It's like they're having a fire truck sent to their house!

Note: Tongue is firmly implanted in cheek.

Someone that gets it... are you a web/software developer by chance?

Rather than being negative about the US, people should recognize that Europe also has it wrong.

Everyone should follow the ISO 8601 standard.

To uncomplicate things for everyone, it won't matter what way its written if we write the month

13/May/2015
May/13/2015
2015/May/13

i understand them all (from UK) :D

I work for Apple in UK, but still have to use the American date format, so kind of used to it.

I'm also used to UNIX Timestamp

13th May 2015 00:00:00 = 1431475200

lmao!

I've seen countless Americans using this terminology as well, despite their picture upload showing 'shipped'.

As an American doing business internationally, over the years I've come to prefer the following format that works everywhere:

Today is 7 May 2015.

...That's clear to everyone wherever they may be, as long as they speak a modicum of English, and if they didn't they probably wouldn't be talking with me in the first place.

So, just spell out the month. Easy-peasy.

The logic argument is really one of top-down vs. bottom-up thinking (and rationalism and empiricism). The metric system is more logical, but the imperial system is based on intuitive physical objects. The pyramid image posted shows how illogical American dates are, but says nothing of how useful one or the other is in the real world. Modernism and technology convinces us that we can understand nature and control it.

Which begs the question: why we Americans ever started writing the date in an illogical way? No doubt the format day/month/year makes much more sense that the US format of month/day/year.

The OP is probably just naive to the 'other' world outside of the US.:D

That's the way to do it! Give us a meter, we'll call it 3 feet ;)

Yes.... day, month, year really does go in the proper order. I'm not sure why we monkeyed around with it here in the colonies. :D

I know it all started with Apple, but seriously, I hate it. Its confusing as hell.

Im going to correct this trend starting now. My WSB will be delivered 05/14-05/20. NOT 14/05-20/05.

;)

Amen.

Seriously, we do a lot of stupid things here in America, but the ego of some international folks truly makes me think we can't possibly be that different.

Hahahahhhahahahah. An American talking about someone else's ego. Now that has made my day!

God bless America.

Serious question.

Do non-Americans say "May 8th" or do they say "8th of May"?

I know Americans generally say "May 8th" so it makes sense that the date would be written "5/8".

Yeah, in the UK we would commonly say either 'the 8th of May'... but sometimes folks say 'May the 8th' :p

In UK we say verbally, it's the 1st of April. Each to their own I guess, it's no biggie for me. Doesn't deserve a thread in a Apple watch forum tho tbh
