I stream my music from Google Play. My entire library is there so I have no need to store it on my iPhone, despite having 64GBs to work with.

Now, if I could somehow make it so that my videos could sit up in a cloud somewhere and be accessed by streaming (free) then I could move the 18GB of Honeymooner's videos I have on my iPhone over.

I use a network external drive (WD book live) I have 1T and I can stream right from there.

64 is the absolute minimum for me now (have about 30gb free on my 64gb 5s). Might go with a 128gb iPhone next year just because I can.

Because of my line of work, I don't have reliable access to wifi, and my data plan only covers 4gigs since the other people on my plan are content with what they have and don't want to switch to a share everything data plan with more data(and a similar price. I don't understand their logic for not doing it.)

Having 128gb means I can carry music, video, photo, and apps with me and not worry about eating up my data accessing these things. It's a lot of space, but it gives me comfort knowing all the photos and videos I take are always with me and Verizon isn't demanding a tribute for the extra gigs of data to access them over LTE.

I always wanted the 128 GB version as soon as it was announced at the keynote. I like to store things on my phone rather than stream from cloud services when I'm on the go. I spend a large portion of my daily commute on the tube (subway) where there is no cellular signal, so I need media stored on my device, I also just like to have things stored on there so I can have access to anything at anytime.

My past history showed that I need 128GB this time round:

iPhone 3G: 16GB -full

iPhone 4: 32GB - full

Samsung Galaxy note 1- 16GB plus 32GB memory card- full

Samsung Galaxy S4/note 3- 16/32GB plus 64GB memory card -full

iPhone 5S: 64GB- (2GB left)

Samsung Galaxy S5 plus -128GB memory card- internal memory full and over over 70GB used on the SD card.

So my past history shows that I need more than 64GB storage. When I went to buy my 6 plus they only had 64GB in stock. I took that initially as it was all they had and I really wanted the phone. However after using it for a week and only having 5GB of free space and not putting all my audiobooks on there, not taking any pictures and not putting as many of my purchased TV shows/movies on there I knew I needed more space. I went back to my carrier to exchange it for a 128GB. I'm so glad I got the extra space. I hate having to manage my space and had set myself to get the 128GB version as soon as it was announced.

I only got 128 because it was only another £90.

I was buying a phone for £700 so I thought what the hell £790. :D

Bang it on the credit card!!

I was really stuck on getting an 128gb model, but after renewing my Amazon Prime Membership, having my collection in ITunes Match, and my Media on Plex, why do I need to carry massive amounts of Media anymore, I can just leave the 64gb for Photos, vids and apps, so when I get one next month think I'm definitely going 64 gb, anyone else downgrade their requirements?

I just purchased my 6+ today and I opted for 64GB which should be plenty.

I wasn't sure if I actually needed 128GB when I pre ordered but now I have about 48GB available which means I would have had to trim to make 64 work. I could do it but I am glad to not have to.

I'm sorry, but unless you're carrying the worlds nuke codes (which, wouldn't take up several GB, anyways), no one needs 128GB.

It's an iPhone, it's a piece of technology. We could all get by without one (except me ;)

I do. I do a lot of videography with my iPhone. I also spend a lot of time on planes with no wifi, so I have a ton of audiobooks and podcasts that take up a lot of space. Keep your judgements of others' needs to yourself.

I'd take a 2TB iPhone if we could get one. In fact, I have a 1TB Seagate wireless media drive just to keep extra stuff accessible for my iOS devices. All my iPads and iPhones are 128GB.

Ok time to admit I was wrong. I ended up getting a White 128gb plus and I'm glad I did. I was able to put a lot of lossless Alac files on the device and comparing them to streaming tunes it's so much clearer and better sounding than their compressed counterparts, the music seems much more open thru good headphones. Now this is against Amazon's Prime streaming service and my uploaded songs there. Amazon uses MP3's so I haven't tried out my ITunes Match stuff yet that is in 256k ITunes Plus format. It might sound better, but unfortunately the system will not let you have ITunes Match turned on and Lossless on the phone at the same time. So I might wait awhile and then try out ITunes Match to see how that fares.

I thought I didn't need 128gb, until I looked at the free space on my iPhone 5 and realised there's only 5-6gb left.

The major culprits are photos and videos, which accumulated to around 30gb, I've been meaning to delete them, well, since two years ago. What surprised me was how I used the rest of the space, I thought I deleted a lot of apps and games I didn't use (or haven't used for a long time), but apps like Dropbox and Facebook use a lot of space! (Facebook especially, also uses a lot of bandwidth).

I don't always live in a place where there's a fast internet, so it's nice to have the extra space to store stuff since cloud storage isn't an option.

If you use iCloud drive for photos, you definitely need large devices. 64 at minimum.

I originally purchased the 128GB model, but quickly found it was really overkill. Especially when I have iTunes Match and Spotify, and don't store any movies on my phone. I returned the 128GB and just waited until my local Apple Store had the 64GB model in stock. It suites me much better, even though I can get by with 16B, but the extra space is nice.

I did have 16 iPhone 5 before and I was full or close to full probably 80% of the time .. So when I upgraded to the 6, Keep in mind I was full issue on the 16 - I wanted 64 but the 64's were hardest to get @ :apple: retail even over a month of waiting before getting the phone .. So the only choice for me was the 128.. I'm fine with it ... if i upgrade in year I'll pay the 6 month fee of $225 plus tax and return of the phone ... Yes the $225 is the right amount for the Upgrade fee for my phone ..

I don't have the best Internet (read 2Mbps down because I live semi rural)

So I prefer having as much as possible on my phone. Got the 64GB model and am perfectly content.

Quite frankly, it is not YOUR place to tell someone what they need.

I have a 64 gb iPhone 5 that has 3288 songs, 301 apps, 27 music videos and 3727 pictures mostly downloaded from the web. I still have 15.2 gb left. So yes 64gb is probably enough. That being said I still got 128gb. I would rather be safe than sorry.

It's called being facetious. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't die if you didn't have all seasons of Family Guy locally stored on your iPhone though.

I have songs, apps, photos and videos of my loved ones. Yeah it's pretty damn important to me so don't assume what I "need" on my phone.

As someone who experienced what a headache and PITA it is to manage storage constantly on a 32GB iPhone 5, it is absolutely worth it for me to get 128GB and not have to worry about maintaining free space on my 6+.

I want to have instant access to all my music, pictures, and video without having to worry about the network dependency involved in accessing the cloud (reception, data speeds, data usage/overages, etc).

Get yourself an Airstash and have all the storage you need. I heard about this cool device from another MacRumors member. I bought one mainly for use at work and now use it for all my storage.

Just looked this up. I imagine you're limited to only playing whatever content you can stream through the air stash app? I'd like to store h264 encoded movies for when we travel on something like this but I have my doubts in sctually being able to play them if not stored locally (we use Infuse, or for those who have access to it still, VLC)

I'm not sure what h264 encoded movies are. You can shoot the company an email. They are quick to respond. That way you can see if the device will suit your needs. For me, it's just so easy to have all my photos and documents for work in one place and easy access to all of them. I use Windows at work and Apple products for personal use. But with the Airstash, I have access easily from both. In a small meeting or training session, I can also allow access to up to 8 others. Also, I live in NH and we still have a lot of areas with poor cell phone service. So with the family we can be out and about (with no service or wifi) taking photos with our phones and then are able to share via Airstash.

Never had a 128 Gb requirement.
