I have one solution for you: never shutdown, always put it to sleep. That way program caches will be in your RAM and page file, dashboard will always be loaded, hell even some programs could be running.

I find when I reboot it all seems so much slower. Like the first time you fire up any program, it takes longer than the 2nd time.

Besides not having backlit keyboard and the sharp front edge, I am very happy w/ my C2D MB. Running some apps, it does get a tad warm w/ the fans going quite fast, but overall, does a very good job. :)

the only problem ive had with my macbook is the whining sound. i had 3 white ones in 1 1/2 months and all had the cpu whine. finally they gave me a refund plus a % off on anything in the store. i didnt have the extra money so i just ended up getting the black one but it still makes the whining so i guess im going to have to live with it. hopefully in 10.5 they change something. but thats my only regret when it comes to my purchase.

the beach ball of death is what your mouse arrow (or pointer) turns into when the computer freezes. sometimes it will resolve itself and sometimes the user has to do a few tricks to resolve the issue, one of which is doing a hard reboot (holding down the power button for 5 seconds to force the computer to shut off and then restarting normally).

Before you go doing a hard shutdown, always try to force quit the app first. I can honestly say that I've never had to do a hard shutdown on any Mac I've owned because of the beachball of death, at least not that I remember.

Why would you do that? Why don't you just buy and install Leopard?

Well, I didn't like the my current MBP anyway (the screen sucks), and because of that it is slowly seeing lesser and lesser use. Might as well get rid of it while the resale value is still good.

If the new one has a LED screen at a higher resolution (thanks to Leopard) and obviously free Leopard and iLife 07 I'd be happy.

I Feel the same way

I purchased my MBP 6 months ago and i am disappointed with it. Please do not make the same mistake i did. Get an Imac or a mac pro they are so much better and the Imac will cost you less and it will have better components. :apple:

Macbook screen issues

Hello everyone, i bought a macbook since august 2007, it is a nice machine but i always hated the screen! the view vertical angle of the screen is really disappointing, the colors gets washed away when my head is aboce the screen level for just about 3 inches :( i have aslo had many troubles with the video adapter driver in windows while using bootcamp, the colors suddenly dont go true anymore, and the only way to fix it is by restarting, i have even looked at the new macbooks in the market with the x3100 video adapter, and thought the screen quality would get better (viewing angle) and the colors won't wash away when i move my head little bit up, so right now i'm thinking of selling it and get a macbook pro, any advices? my brother has a vaio FZ-25G and the screen is wonderful compared to my macbook. Please tell me which :apple: laptop is better in terms of screen's quality..

Thanx a bunch

I bought my little white macbook in November after the graphics upgrade. I have the same issue with you in viewing the screen, especially while watching vids. If the screen is your main issue, I would probably wait to go to the Apple store to see if the Air does you good with its backlit LED screen. If you're willing to do the upgrade, you might as well go for style!

The new macbooks' screen quality should be somewhat worse than the old macbooks, so you're out of luck. But you might want to check them out at the Apple Store as the previous poster noted.

Firefox taking 3-4 bounces to open is pretty normal. Took 3-4 bounces on my old MBP, takes 3-4 bounces on my iMac 2.4 ghz, and takes 3-4 bounces on my 2.2 ghz Macbook.
