No worries, you can try Amazon, BHphoto, or other Apple re-sellers. I needed Snow Leopard too, so I just went online and bought a new MBP from the refurb store last week.

The problem is that copy won't work with the latest MBP.
You need a DVD with 10.6.8 and all the latest drivers.
Not sure where you can buy that, probably an Apple store
and a friendly guy would be the best bet

Actually I think it is 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 that works as well (as those were the releases out when the current generation MBPs were released). Too bad I don't think that those are for purchase items. I know for a period there, the versions released were different depending on your MBP (one version for the Sandybridge crowd and one version for everyone else).

I'll probably end up getting a refurb, since I need to buy direct from Apple (I've been purchasing Apple gift cards from people on Craigslist for less than face value in anticipation of my purchase). I was going to hold out even longer for the rumored 15" Air, but forget that I guess.

Unless, of course, a third party creates a Rosetta replacement. That's my last hope

Are there any hacks to get Snow Leopard to run in VMware Fusion? I know there are hacks to get Snow Leopard to run within Windows VMware 7.

I'd call that a bad decision OP... if you're a Mac user, you're going to switch to Lion eventually, anyways. If the computer itself was good, you should've waited for bug fixes.

I would say if you had so many issue's with Lion like so many other users then buy your MBP from your local Apple store since (at least the ones around here) still have MBP's with SL installed on them. If not check your local Authorized Apple reseller such as Best buy and buy one from them. That way your get Snow Leopard and still have a new 2011 MBP

but my machine is shipping with Snow Leopard and the updated SL install disks. So it's good. Had I bought a MBP that ships with Lion, then your statement would be correct

I've definitely experienced a hotter machine since installing Lion. On average my 2011 15" MBP is 15-20 degrees F warmer than with SL. My old aluminum 2008 Macbook has actually run a little cooler with Lion, so go figure. I'm hoping a system update will fix the issue. If 10.7.1 doesn't do it, i'll most likely do a clean install:(

I felt bad on my way to Fed ex today. I really gave Lion a chance. Is it me?. I still have my 2010 MBP which I simply love. Hopefully if Apple comes up with a fix, I will repurchase it.

You're aware that you could've put Snow Leopard on it for a nominal fee, right?

No he couldn't Apple Tech support already told him his new MBP would not run SL because of the firmware version. Apple does this by design so people have no choice but to use the latest OS.....increases their adoption rate numbers....

What the apple tech told him was BS. The MBP's are still early 2011 and there is no firmware difference between the two, the OP can have SL recovery discs from an "earlier" early 2011 MBP and clean install SL.

Go to bestbuy and tell them to pricematch micro cener price $999. Pro are still running snow leopard.

Got mine few days ago. But really, I don't have any issues on lion. I installed the lion fresh and not upgrade.
