I think trying the oven trick is worth a go. I guess before or after you do that the thermal paste will need replacing?

----------

Hi and thanks for your help. I'm going to put the logic board in the oven and heat it up for a few minutes like another user has done with some success apparently and depending on the result the next step will be to get a second hand logic board.
Thanks for your assistance, i must say people in this Forum are very very helpful.

You would then clean the paste off and reapply post-reflowing the board.

I recommend Arctic Silver 5 or Ceramique 2. Both can be purchased at Radio Shack at least in my area.

Just one more thing, what is the liquid you used to remove the old thermo paste off the chips on logic board?

I normally use an old credit card to scrape off as much as I can. Then I use disposable coffee filters soaked and strained in isopropyl alcohol to get rid of the rest and clean it up. Cotten balls work well too but they can leave fibers on the CPU and GPU.

I did the reflow but didn't work. I now see the "keep finger on the on/off button" message like you can see on the attached photo. Did I have to also put thermal paste on the CPU too? When I took out the logic board the CPU didn't have any paste on so I bother didn't putting any.

Thermal paste must always be on the CPU. It does not take much to burn the CPU out without it.
