I've been having a similar problem for months now and it's gotten to the point where I can't visit certain sites and other just redirect me to nothing almost instantly...like when i try to visit weather.com!
Redirection sounds like you might want to check your router's DNS settings.
I used to get this "windows security has detected some crap and needs you to install some junk" all the damn time on every website on both ff and safari.
Those are "scareware" sites, and can't harm your Mac. Follow the link in post #3 of this thread for more information.
I've tried a reinstall, clearing the library/app support/ff/profiles..., clearing history and cookies and all to no avail.
As I said, it's most likely a problem with your DNS settings.
Is there anyone out there who can give a solution to this problem rather than blind speculation and thread-crap? seriously, does anybody ACTUALLY KNOW something about this or is everyone just looking for an opportunity to make someone else look stupid?
It's counter-productive and foolish to come to a forum like this and ask for help, then display this kind of attitude toward those who might be able to solve your problem, especially as your very first post in the forum. It makes people not want to help you.
