Went to Verizon because well why not , they told me to get out lol. They said it needs to be a Verizon IPhone so there system could see it. Back at Apple Store again hoping they exchange. I have AppleCare

Ok so that's the issue. Verizon doesn't recognize the phone, so when we're confirming the carrier, their system must be saying we don't have a phone with them. Very complicated. I'm just going to buy a new Verizon IUP 8+ and give my wife my 7+. Meanwhile I'll report back when I speak to executive relations tomorrow.

Well I got a resolve with a ehhh solution .

Issue - when you switch carriers it converts your base iPhone to a multi phone. A multi is a unlocked iPhone. Doing this somewhat voids the IPU (apple is working on that issue will be corrected next week) and messes with the settings on the other carrier.
Resolve- switch to a Verizon (retail iPhone) this will activate correctly and display proper info, just can't switch carriers until apple fixes this
Downside- if you get a new phone you are locked into IUP (can't get to the iPhone 8, but you can't reserve it anyway)

Makes friends with the store manager and see if he can hold one for you. We just can't reserve one but can activate one no problem.

So this is it guys hopefully we can get a better resolve

So basically Apple needs to stop using carrier switching in IUP as a benefit in their advertising until this gets fixed.

I am confused by their logic. Aren't they checking your upgrade eligibility only? Why do they care what carrier the phone was originally purchased with?

That IUP is flawed because the iPhone switches in apples system to something else when the carrier is switched

Is anyone having issues that switched to carriers other than Verizon? seems like you all switched from sprint to Verizon... I switched from Verizon to T-mobile. I'm waiting on the X so I haven't completed the pre registration process yet...

If you want to try an 8 and confirm carrier you will see if you errror out or not and just cancel the process after

T-Mobile users don't have to confirm their carrier, the process just skips that step. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and the preorder process seems to work fine, although I haven't gone all the way through because I want an X.

Do you need a Verizon phone attached to the current phone upgrading, at least temporarily? Just a thought if that matters. Instead of checking eligibility, are doing a pseudo activation?

Ok so I just spoke to the person in executive relations and she agreed that one of the benefits of IUP is that you can switch between as many carriers as you like as frequently as you wish without losing your IUP status. She apologized for all the misinformation that I've been getting from the various Apple employees. She had me take screenshots of the pre approval process all the way to the error message and I emailed them to her. I will continue to update as soon as she contacts me again.

Let's hope apple fixes this before 4 pm today

Been taking to Apple Corporate this
Morning and they acknowledged this is an issue with Verizon. They feel tonight everything should be fine but the pre approval process is flawed. Will update through out the day
[doublepost=1505415123][/doublepost]Just finished hopefully my last phone call with apple for today. As I said this a known issue with Verizon, anyone that that has switched to Verizon from any carrier this year will not be able to pre enroll. Verizon will not have a fix in time for launch. Apple assured me that the preapproval process is different from the actual IUP sale, and that everything should work.

The gentleman I am working with his name is Doug Harrison and strongly encourages others to email him today about this issue dougharrison@apple.com please give him your phone number so he can't contact you.

Ok so fortunately executive relations resolved the issue and it allowed me to fully complete the pre approval process. I'm not sure what they did but I got through the whole thing while she was on the phone with me.

is this still a problem? I was thinking of switching carriers and plan to order iPhone x using apples upgrade program that I got last year with the iPhone 7.
