Okay, so why do I think this? Because the tracking info has not been updated for 3 days. It shows my iPhone leaving Sacramento, and then it's like it disappeared. Could they have "lost" it, or am I just being paranoid.

their tracking isn't updated live, so i wouldn't worry too much about it. you can always call if you have questions about it. what would worry me the most is if the status read "delivered" and it wasn't. scary.

I know it isn't live, but 3 days without anything. I usually don't buy high ticket items over the internet, so I guess I'm just a little paranoid about the whole thing,

I am currently dealing with the same situation

Let me know how it works out for you. I've been emailing back and forth with FedEx for about an hour now, trying to get some sort of specific info besides "use the tracking number".

I wouldn't worry about it. What the sech. delivery date?

Tuesday.

I was hoping to have some time to play with it over the weekend.

Three days is a long time for them to not update tracking information. Most of the time they are within a few hours.

I don't remember if it was UPS or FedEx but I've seen it go without updates for quite a number of days (2-4) and then all of a sudden it shows up. Then I'll go check the tracking and then it shows everything that had happened over those few days...

A lot of times a company will submit the item for shipping get the tracking number from fedex before fedex actually gets the item.

Another way to say it: Company prints shipping label, tracking number shows up in fedex system, company actually gives item to fedex day or to later, that is why no change in tracking info. Hope this helps!

Well, it left the Sacramento shipping center 3 days ago, and that's the last I heard of it. It definitely left Apple, it's just a matter of where it is now,

my backpack for school is still lost somewhere(fedex) for over a week now. they are going 2 refund the money...i can't imagine how much that would suck if i were 2 get a iPhone!!!

Let's revisit possible reasons

What you have not shared with us is what the tracking information says. Every time a package moves from one vehicle or location to another a scan of the tracking number is necessary. If the only location being shown is from the shipper, I would call them and ask if that package is laying under a table somewhere. Large volume shippers can electronically register the package without a FedEx courier arriving. If FedEx picked it up there should be a date/time stamp indicating "On Van" or something simular.

If it was shipped priority overnight by air there is a problem. If it was shipped by Ground or Home Delivery 3 days to get from the shipper into your hot hands may be reasonable if the distance is large. You should also have an indication of expected delivery date if it is by ground. FedEx Ground to my knowledge is the only day definitive delivery company in the business outside of a "hotshot" service. Sometimes I've also seen the package sit for a while but it made the committed delivery date. The reasons for this involves logistics, prioritized shipments, etc. Did I want it earlier, yep. Did I want to pay to get it earlier, not really. Did I have to have it earlier, nope.

So look at the shipping info online and look at the path it's traveled.

Well you see,in order to fund the $100 rebates, the downgraded your priority shipping to 3 week shipping. So don't be worried, it will show up by Halloween!

aw, that was a low one, but funny none the less. I've always had problems with FedEx. I'd give them a call and ask to speak to a manager, and, in a kind but hard way, lay into him. Also give apple a call and let them know of the situation. If anything they might be able to shed some light on your situation.

I'm assuming they shipped it via ground if it wont be there until Tuesday. If its on a truck, it wont be updated for several days, since its sent via ground. They dont scan the packages while on the truck, but rather when they get to each logistics center (for lack of a better word). I would call fedex and see if they have any more info then what they are showing on their website.

Good luck

i've always had issues like that with fedex and ups. dhl is the only tracking that has ALWAYS been consistent.

don't worry though. they say tuesday, chances are, it's coming tuesday. or it could come monday even.

I checked and I don't think that they deliver on Mondays with the shipping option I'm using. But they do deliver on Saturdays. Tomorrows my B-day, how awesome would it be if it showed up tomorrow. :)

well then it could.

that's happened to me more times then it was said to come on the actual ship date (coming a day early and all)

so who knows. most of those were laptops too....$3k laptops too.

i learned not to worry. if the truck it's in tips over, i just get a new one :D

My b-day is today, hence the partially drunk post via my iPhone! Hope you get it, and its the most awesomest thing you have ever had! (<--Pretty much drunk now)

How can you type so accurately on that thing if your drunk? It's hard enough to type on when your sober. :)

if you chose standard shipping, it's shipping via fedex ground. it will take 3-6 days to get delivered, and you likely won't see a tracking update until the day the truck gets to your town. i work for fedex actually. if you want to pm me the tracking #, i can check on it for you.

don't worry too much. unless you chose overnight or 2-day shipping, all is okay.

Don't worry about it. If it is traveling via FedEx Ground, it could be a few days before it hits the next package sorting facility or your location.

If they did indeed lose your iPhone I'm sure Apple would cover it. But wait until you are sure before calling.

How does ground shipping work? I ordered my iPhone on Thursday and it says it left Memphis yesterday at 10 AM...I've gotten no updates since. Does it simply go on a truck that makes routine stops on the way up North (I live in NY) or does it have a bunch of packages that go directly to one center that serves a general area (Central NY for example). I've always wondered how this works and if you could enlighten me that would be great!

Fedex (& UPS) only ship express packages on weekends. If Fedex says Tuesday, it will be there Tuesday.

I ordered a 32" TV from a retailer in PA (I think) and it was over 5 days before the tracking information was updated. I guess it never went through any checkpoints and went directly from their warehouse to the sub-hub in Dallas. Ground takes time.

Yes, it travels by truck from Memphis to wherever you are located. Depending on where it is shipping to, Fedex's system will automatically find the best route through their shipping network and put it on a truck. However, it will often change trucks depending on how complex the route is to your town to make it faster. They are usually only scanned into the tracking system when they change trucks, planes, etc. Don't expect updates very often if its a long route by truck. Each state usually has a sub-hub- ex. anything shipped to my house (In Austin) will almost ALWAYS go through the UPS sub-hub in Dallas, then to Austin.
