It does have some bad characteristics to it

So does smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol. I don't personally, but the world needs to get its messages straight...if something i bad and "we" say it should be illegeal then make everything similar in nature to it illegeal...if not, the not!!! What is even more sad is the fact that the US taxes cigarettes so much so instead of making something illegeal we simply make money off the people killng themselves prematurely...how moral is that?

Back to the iMac...if the police do come you had better hope your screen name for Macrumors is not saved on the iMac cause they would see the fact that you *knew* it was stolen.:D

Me personally would try and see if one was stolen in your community...cause if I was that person it was stolen from and was out the $1,000+ to buy a replacement one I would be bummed- especially since it is no new!!! If we were talking about an iMac G3 or something that would be different. If it is stolen you would be able to have the police help you get your $400 back if you can prove you paid him for it (did you pay by check?) then you would *be out* the $600+ additional funds to buy your own legitimate one which I know sucks, but not as much as if you were the one suck paying for another Intel iMac 6 months or so after you bought it! That would REALLY suck if you ask me!

Because more important people than you think it should be.

It does effect the short term memory for a few days after it is smoked though and can cause mental ilnesses like schizophrenia if smoked from an early age. It does have some bad characteristics to it

"pot is not a drug... it is a plant...Cocaine..thats a drug"

They're both plants.

pot is the dried flowers

cocaine powder is derived thru solvents, etc, from the coca plant.

so, no they arent both plants in the sense that what is on the street is not also available from your local greenhouse without any other steps. :p ;)

Correction.

Pot(s) are what you cook in. Marijuana is what you smoke, active ingredient being THC which is a drug. Cocaine is a drug, too.

alcohol..is a drug...way more dangerous than pot....

have you heard of anyone over doing on pot... i havent..it cant happen
Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean that it cannot happen. Just like everything, there is a maximum dosage a human body can handle of THC.
that gateway drug stuff is just a load of BS anyway..the same thing could be said for alcohol
Actually, it isn't. Users of marijuana are much more likely to go on to abuse other substances. (I can't remember the exact figure, but it was something like 60% I want to say) And yes, the same can be said for alcohol, however because of various social/religious issues surrounding alcohol the figure is lower, except for abusers, who are more likely to be abusing marijuana as well.

Now that we've cleared some of that up...

Here. Try this link.Linkety to database of stolen Apple serial numbers. Also keep in mind that the differences between a Core 2 Duo and a Core Duo are pretty small to a non-techie, but the other issues are reason enough to worry.

oh no! not another pot thread.

Yup, another pot thread.

Marijuana is simply a dried plant, and it is portrayed to be much more damaging than it really is. Sure, you will lose short term memory if you smoke it daily for a year... but most pot smokers do it occasionally. Reports say that X is less damaging than alcohol and tobacco, and they are both legal, so marijuanas "damaging effects" are not a good reason to keep it illegal. What other reasons are there to keep it illegal? Especially those that can't be applied to alchohol and tobacco... because there aren't any. At least no good ones... making it legal would solve a lot of problems.

yeah, it's something like more than a kilo administered all at once:rolleyes: . I'd like to see that happen - in the meantime, I'd like to find funding to try it myself:D .

Yes, but...

one need not derive cocaine hydrochloride in order to make use of the drug, as it was originally used. Just stuff a wad of leaves in one side of your mouth, some lime in the other and chew away. Similarly, one may also eat Mary-Jane.

Or making tobacco illegal would solve a lot of problems. Why make more damaging things legal if you can just eliminate other harmful stuff? The logic works. I'd also be in favor of more restrictions on alcohol, but not in favor of another Prohibition. Too many legitimate uses, too many odd cases to consider (cough medication, for example).

With what I've had to go through, I'm not so big on messing up my body, thankyouverymuch.

Any word on the serial number yet? It is the one thing that might save this thread.:D

Well, now that we've turned a "potentially stolen Mac" thread into a pot thread, I think we're through here.
