You can pull the battery and it should still start. If there is nothing on the drive it should display a flashing folder with a ?/Finder face alternating over it.

Ok, so i tried this out only to be greeted by another black screen. The start up didn't make the fans loud though. And the front I/O Light won't come on still...

Would posting some sort of video of the start up help?
