I want white. So yeah, I will be waiting :(

Getting a white one is probably the safest thing you can do, if they havent fixed everything by then theyve got serious problems. Im not sure how theyre going to fix the reception problem.

Me personally, I just am being patient, maybe some things will be sorted out by the time I get my July 14th pre order.

You guys are nuts. If this problem is as big as you guys think it is, Apple and ATT will be forced to make things right. Its not like they're going to make a iPhone 4.5 and NOT let us trade in our 4's if it goes that far.

Yeah, but for those of us who are switching to ATT, it's not worth paying a monthly bill for a faulty phone while they make things right. If I was already on ATT, it'd be different. I could just pop my sim in my old phone while I wait.

Ill wait too....

Let Apple adress the issues first.

Could be awhile as they confirmed the wifi issues with the iPad 2 months ago and have yet to do anything about it.

My JB 3GS works great ! Why buy something that doesnt ?

I am for sure waiting and keeping the Evo I bought. I made a thread like this and got called a troll. However, waiting to see what happens is a very good idea.

All previous models of the iPhone since day one have experienced an excessively high number of dropped calls and reception problems. These and other problems continue with iPhone 4. The iPhone/AT&T marriage has not been a good one IMO. It really doesn't matter if the problems lie within the network, the phone, or a combination thereof, the problems are there. AT&T and Apple have had 3+ years to get their crap together - nothing has changed for the better. Enough is enough.

I absolutely love my 3G (when it works) and Apple products in general, but the iPhone no longer works for me. I supposed dropped calls are not a big deal if you do most of your communication by SMS or email, but I want a phone that I can reliably depend on to make and receive calls.

Once you rid yourself of any emotional attachment to the iPhone itself and make a business decision based on what a phone is really intended for, the choice is pretty easy. I've decided to go back to Verizon.

And where you live, here where I am verizon is awful and att is good. So where you need to use the phone the most also counts into your business decision.

I too think I am gonna wait. I have one reserved, but too many complaints and the big rollout hasn't even started yet. Plus I would have to pay full price for it; just not worth the headaches. Like one poster said, the iPad has WiFi problems, and they haven't been addressed yet.
I'll keep my 3GS for now and do a wait and see.

I'd almost be tempted to wait, too, except for the fact that my iPhone 3G will be shipped to its new owner tomorrow, so I kinda, sorta need a new iPhone tomorrow.

That is exactly the position I'm in. My 3GS left on Monday and I'm using a crappy old phone.

I really really want to wait for the White model of iPhone 4 but I'm not sure that I can. Although it'll be next week before anymore stock comes through I reckon.

I have one pre-ordered, 7/14 ship date. It would be a terrible disappointment to have it turn out to be one of the "afflicted" ones, then have to wait again for Apple to get enough in the supply chain to provide replacements. On the flip side, it's difficult to judge what percentage of existing phones are afflicted, since people seldom post "mine's fine" on forums; we hear mostly from the unlucky, angry owners. With past models, I've gotten the phone first and then read about the issues, of which there were plenty. I never had any of them with any of my phones. However, the phones to fulfill 7/14 orders are being manufactured now, surely. Too late to correct flaws, I would think. Will my luck run out?

I do like the iPhone, but I'm getting pretty tired of the Apple Circus. I like to try new and different tech, too, so I'm considering blowing off my pre-order and checking out the Evo. It has some problems of its own, of course, so I'm not sure that's a great idea. In any case, I'm pretty sure I'm going to cancel the pre-ordered iPhone. My 3GS works great. Why trade that in for a load of potential trouble?

You are absolutely correct. I travel extensively throughout the US. It works great in some cities, but not so well in many other places. If the AT&T works for you, more power to you. As much as I love the iPhone, it's no longer worth the headache that goes along with it.

I was holding two black iPhones last night... I decided I'd rather see how the drama over the "issues" plays out and honestly I want a white one so bad I can't stand it.

It was so hard not to open them up and go at it.

I'm with ya. Been researching the EVO, and like a lot. After this fiasco, I'm waiting until my contract with AT&T is up in September. I will say this, on June 7th, I was leaning 95% towards the iPhone 4, was blown away by the presentation, and it looks like an incredible device. But this really makes me nervous.

I for one never pay attention to the presentations. I am more concerned how it works in my hand, not on stage with Steve Jobs, and its not looking too good so far with all its issues. In fact, it didnt even work right on stage. Was Steve holding it in his left hand in that left corner? :p
