I think I've cracked the pricing

Well if the leaks are correct, then they're using a lot of the same manufacturing process for the 5S and components for the 5C from the iPhone 5, which means they could do away with the 5 and still benefit from economies of scale. I'll be surprised to see any 30-pin iPhones still available after next week.

I don't necessarily disagree. I was on the fence. Just don't know the internals of the 5C yet.

everybody wants an excuse for an "i told you so" moment which would make them feel special if even for just a split second. even fi thi person gets it right, its still a guess, not an intelligent analysis by any stretch.

I believe they were referring to the iPhone 5 vanishing like the iPad 3 did.

Yes you are correct this is exactly what I was referring to!

The iPad 3 stopped being sold after the iPad 4 came out but apple still sells the iPad 2.

So I think the iPhone 5 will stop being made and in its place will be the 5C. But I think apple will likely keep the iPhone 4s around for the pay as you go plans and as a cheeper smaller alternative.

So the new line up would be

iPhone 4s
iPhone 5C
iPhone 5s
?????????
