I got 425 on eBay for mine today... Good luck.

I saw one three days before the announcement go for 455.. Prices are depreciating quickly!

Hey was that after the $40-50 of ebay/paypal fees? I'm just asking because I was monitoring ebay for the past week and I agree the days leading up to the announcement there was a steep decline. I personally sold my iphone 4s 16gb to amazon for $400. Only drawback is i'll have to wait until amazon gets the unlocked iphone 5 to purchase it because they give you amazon credit (eGift card).

I can see where the demand might go up for people with nice cars and such with the 30 pin connector. I'd be surprised if it actually went up by much though.

Unlock it and sell it on CL for $600.

OMG you're the best. Forgot my BMW uses the 30 pin for the dock. Time to get adapters. I wonder if the dealership will update it for me.

That would probably be a long shot. But I hope it works out for you.

Remember, looks like they are including one adapter in the box.

They are including what adapter in the box?

During checkout there was an option to buy a 30 pin to Lightning adapter. The text above it read "an adapter is already included....wanna buy more?" (paraphrased cuz I'm on my iPad and lazy.)

I don't see that at all. When you click on "What's included," it shows the power adapter, cable, headphones, phone, and unicorn tears.

It's not there, it was during the order process. But there's some debate if it was correct or not. Some people saw it and others didn't.

There's a thread on it.

Well, here we are, 7 months later. Gazelle is currently offering $225 for a 64GB iPhone 4S in excellent condition. So, I was wrong.

The good news is that I've not had any desire whatsoever to "upgrade" to an iPhone 5. Heck, I've not had any desire to "upgrade" to iOS 6, either. I can literally picture myself using this iPhone 4S on iOS 5 for several more years. I might even pay to have a new battery installed if it starts showing signs of not holding a charge as well. So far, so good!

Well, you had a point, but it just didn't pan out that way I guess. I think part of it may be that not as many people can upgrade every year anymore, because of the contracts. It's still worth quite a bit, though. Try getting that for a year old android device, lol.

i hadnt realise.

i dont understand why people have this urge to necro posts all the time. if its on the first page of course im going to assume its a current post..

If you were paying attention, you'd see the OP followed up after his six month prediction..

Then you'll have a 4s on ios6+ because 9/10 they swap your device for a white box refurb. Not unless you go down the 3rd party repair route.

Third party repair is going to be much cheaper than Apple. Replacing a battery on the 4S is utter cake. Hell, based on all the tweaking this guys is comfortable doing on his car stereo, I am sure he would be comfortable doing it himself.

Use Gazelle if you're in a hurry only. Need of quick cash. They're legit. They're quick and efficient...and their service is incredible. That said, they're looking to make a 'buck' too. They're pretty successful and their business model is straight forward. Buy low, sell high. A Quick scan of eBay and the 'completed listings' for an iPhone 4S....yielded this successful sale of a 64GB 4s for $449.

eBay is where to find out the actual 'worth' of essentially anything. What people will actually pay for it. 99% of the time, using common sense, eBay is a decent way to sell off your belongings.

That said, the 4s is a killer phone. I did have one, passed it on to my wife and bought the 5. I'll do the same this fall...or whenever the new version hits. I've found, with the upgrade available...selling the previous version has yielded me enough with each iteration to pay the subsidized price of the new Iphone. Works well

So is the iphone 5 when you look at the new phones from htc and samsung.

Neither of which are quite available yet. One is an HTC...I'll give it to you, it's a nice looking phone. New way of approaching the camera, excellent build...but it's HTC. They're in trouble. They've been losing a lot of money and support would concern me. The other is Samsung. The s4 looks to be the 's' model to the GSIII IMHO. Nice phone. Solid specs, I'm assuming, we'll have to see when they're actually available, have been reviewed/purchased by real people...and put through the paces. As of now, one can buy an iPhone 5. The 5s or 6...or the 5s and 5HD (4" and a new 4.63" offering) this fall or late summer....or whenever Apple's ready seems compelling enough to wait out if you're an Apple-iPhone fan. Especially if you're a proud owner of a 4s. IMHO still the 'second' best phone on the market :)

It's £55 for apple to do it with a 90day warrenty on the device. And to be fair I wouldn't risk a battery of eBay.

Who said eBay? There are plenty of other third party options. I find people are way too critical about third party hardware. Also, and this is the key point here, if the OP wants to keep iOS 5, it's his only choice. In fact, you mentioned this yourself.

Fwiw, the kiosks in the mall will swap out a battery for $40.

Not if its updated to 6.1.3 or later. Same as with the 5.

Please look at when I made that post. It was in September. The iPhone 5 was on iOS 6 and was not jailbroken until the end of February. The iPhone 4S was still on 5.1.1 and it was possible to use an untethered jailbreak at the time of my post as long as the iPhone 4S was on 5.1.1.
