Isn't the language in that quote from the uppermost levels of Apple clear enough? The iMac/Mini/Pro have merged/evolved. A complete redesign of the line or the entire desktop paradigm is in progress right now, with tight security on information. "New product pipeline". This definitely explains the long wait, doesn't it?
FYI, the only time in iMac history that a refresh took longer than the one we're in right now was when they shifted from PPC to Intel. That was a big change. Get ready for something just as significant . . .![]()
Tim Cook originally said that they had something great coming for the professional community "late next year." This was hurriedly corrected by an Apple spokesperson to stress that there would be an IMac this year and that Tim had been referring to the MacPro. So, with that in mind, if there is going to be a major change/merge in the IMac/Mini/Pro lines, I wouldn't expect that until September 13. But, given Apple's other comment, I would expect some form of spec bumped iMac at some point before Christmas.
