I don't know if anyone remembers, but years ago iOS Safari had this really bad bug where it would repeatedly lose all your tabs. The solution was to use tab groups, so I started using them at the time.
Today I launched Safari only to see a blank tab. Turns out all the tabs in my tab group (let's call this group A) were gone! I obviously don't remember every single tab I had open, but I re-opened a few that I remembered.
Except that wasn't what happened. What actually happened was that all the tabs in group A were moved to group B, overwriting what was in group B.
I don't understand how Safari is developed in such a way that all of the tabs from one group are not only inexplicably moved to a different group, but also overwrite said other groups' tabs. What is even going on in Cupertino?
As an aside, I think it's asinine that we can no longer clear the recently closed tabs list, or even delete individual entries. The list isn't sorted alphabetically or by date the tab was opened or closed, it's completely random. There are hundreds of tabs and it makes it completely pointless to actually try to recover an accidentally closed tab. I'll ask the same question again: What is even going on in Cupertino?
