well I have had a Android phone for 3 years and I will be getting the new iPhone 5s when I go to the UK in October.

android sucks compared to my iPad ios is a much more stable os.

i went from iphone5 to the S4 as well, and no way I'm going back. I might consider the xperia z1 though.

Couple of years ago I did the same thing with the SGS2. Came back to iPhone 1 month later.

The android OS itself (vanilla) I think for the most part is decent, it's what the manufacturers that tinkers with it is the problem. They add a whole bunch of crap you will never use, and this causes the phone to slow down and take up (valuable) space.

I've had every iPhone since the iPhone 3. I've also had the SG3, Nexus 4, HTC One X+, SG4, and HTC One. I can unequivocally say that as long as you stay within one generation, there's no real "speed" difference between iOS and Android phones. I found that while I enjoy using Android phones, there is a comfort level with iOS that I can't get with Android. Don't get me wrong, the high-end android devices are amazing and often either better physically designed(HTC One) or have better software features(SG4) than their iOS counterparts. However, when I return to using iOS after a foray into Android, I feel like I'm coming home.(Cheesy, I know...)

Android OS is great especially if you use Google services, and I love the ability to use google on any platform(looking at you iCloud), but when I commit to Apple devices completely I just feel good.(except when I look at my bank statement).

I completely agree.

I also owned Apple, Samsung, HTC, and LG phones.

A lot of them. I'd say they're all good, but Apple is far more reliable.

HTC and Samsung are very user friendly and have some great points, but Apple is across the board great.

Gotta go with the Note 3, though. The Apple iPhone 5S is not that game breaking. I love my iPhone 5 and am very sad it will be discontinued for the 5C. I'm still baffled by this.

I tried a Samsung Galaxy S4 a couple of months ago (i have since sold it). I have to say that i was VERY disappointed with the S4. Let me explain and apologies if this post is big. Straight out the of the box, the S4 required me to sign up to a number of different accounts (Samsung store, Google) to name a couple. I was then presented with a OS that at first seemed ok. There were a number of different apps installed that i had NEVER asked for. Bloatware was terrible.
I checked out the Google Play Store for apps, i was VERY disappointed with the quality of apps. A lot of them crashed and or installed ads that i had never asked for. Then there was the big screen that people seemed to go mad for.
Again i was disappointed, battery life was terrible (i was getting about half a day on a single charge). Big screens are not always better. Then there was the "features" on a number of occasions when trying to use the hand gestures they would not work (about 50%-60% of the time) and even when they did they were sluggish and not even helpful.

I came across the advert "pool party" that was made by Samsung for the S4, having seen this advert i can honestly say that i think it is a LIE. The features they show/advertise don't event work (50-60% of the time). They show iPhone as being the phone for older people and then proceed to bump phones with another Samsung S4 user, this is GREATLY exaggerated, as it takes MUCH longer than the second it does in the advert.

I can honestly say that once i get a new iPhone 5S, i will be staying with iPhone and Apple.

While Note 2 (and possibly 3) is a good device because of S-pen, there's nothing on S4 that amazes me.

I was curious what android was like and they said they will waive the re-stock fee if I want to trade it for the iPhone 5s. Maybe I am just overwhelmed and not used to the change, but I just miss iOS already and am getting annoyed.

Your problem there is you should have got a Nexus device first to get used to Android. Samsung add so much crap to their phones with Touchwiz. Its a mess being truthful and im using a Galaxy S4 now but picking up a 5S Friday.

You have to give any new mobile OS at least 7-10 days of proper use, really.

I tried Android and really liked a lot of things, but not enough to switch just yet (was waiting for iOS 7).

But it's always best to keep options open.

sorry, i call BS without more details. just how old of a 'galaxy' was it? or are you intimating through vagueness that all the new galaxy phones are slow and laggy? half the people i work with have newer galaxy phones and i see none of them 'getting angry with the speed and UI lag'. at least try to be more original with your Samsung bashing rather than repeating the standard apple-fan talking points ad nauseum.

It's the galaxy S3. Why would I spend my time lying about the Galaxy. How does that benefit me LOL. Things are always crashing for her. What do you want me to do , lie???

It is really pathetic that the "standard apple-fan talking points" are still completely relevant in the galaxy line of phones. Samsung should really fix those things.

I like some elements of Android, especially the tight integration with Google services. In other ways it's easier to root/jailbreak to get it run things I want.

But overall the experience is not as good as iOS. I know the iPhone 5S doesn't have a quad or octa core processor, but it still runs very smooth. My Galaxy S4 and HTC One both seem to freeze more often; some apps crash and there are a few apps that just don't run.

The smooth part is also why I also enjoy using Windows Phone 8. Even though it runs on like 3 year old parts, it is still very fast. Too bad about the lack of apps.

I went to a SG4 from an IPone 5, and while I think the 4 is a good phone, I still liked the Iphone better for a few reasons. Battery life while it could be better on the Iphone 5 still blows away the sg4 which has abysmal battery life. I still get a lot of app crashes on the sg4 I rarely received any on the Iphone. I was seduced by the larger screen, which is nice, but doesn't make up for the negatives. Chances are pretty good that when this phone is eligible for an update I will go to an Iphone 6.

I've made the switch many times, and every time I do, I come back. I've had the SGS2, GNote, SGS4, and GNote 2. I can say without a doubt, while I would very much appreciate it if Apple increased the iPhone's screen size to ~4.7", having the same size screen (or larger) with Android loaded on it is NOT enough to save Android's crappy user experience. iPhone and iPad all the way. Just my opinion though.

My son went androidSamsung S4 but really likes the iPhone 5s that Dad is getting.

He'll have to wait his 2 years for his upgrade.

Lessons learned

Update: The freedom and customization is growing on me and this decision is going to be hard. I'm actually liking the phone a lot now.
