I'm not interested in one, I already have a pebble steel and after several months almost never use the smart watch functions any more, luckily the steel is a nice stand alone watch, looks like a normal watch. Just needs charging weekly.

The Apple watch will become a non-event to many buyers soon enough, those that need and use the features daily will still use it, but most looking for a new toy will do what most new toys do, get over it and put it in a drawer.

The phone is different since it is essential to day-to-day living, the watch needs the phone so the watch can go if it has to, the phone can't.

Nice device and all but there is a reason its being marketed as jewellery and not a device...

I tried on the 38 mm stainless steel with modern buckle this afternoon and loved it. I have a small wrist and was concerned about how it would fit and look. It fit and looked fine on my wrist and I will definitely get it. I pre-ordered yesterday, but not early and won't get it until June, unless I get lucky and order early enough on launch day to get it for store pick up. :)

I am unabashedly an Apple fanboy but I did not pre-order. On this one I am going to wait and see what peoples opinions are after they receive them and wear/use them for several weeks or months before I consider it.

For me, the watch isn't about sitting there and playing with it like I would an iphone. For me, first it's a watch. Second it's a fitness tracker. Third, it gets me quick notifications for important things like work email. Fourth, it's a quick way to answer a quick calls for a quick questions, esp. for work. Finally fifth it's a fashion accessory that I think looks pretty damn cook.

Well put. I'm in the same camp. That's actually what inspired me to buy the Black SS. I haven't owned a watch since 1995 (with the exception of a watch my wife bought me for our anniversary a few years ago and I never wear...for which I've taken up permanent residence in a dog house). Anyway...I decided on the "nicer" Watch because I wanted to treat myself to a nice timepiece that I'll WANT to wear; one that also serves up fitness functionality and notifications.

There was a Citizen Bluetooth enabled watch I wanted a few years back. But it got terrible reviews and was too large/gaudy for my taste. But it satisfied that same desire to have a 1.) timepiece and 2.) basic notifications (very basic). And, obviously, the fitness element wasn't there.

Then there's the Withings Activité (the $450 model). I think it's beautiful. And I almost bought one. But it's a bit too limited. It's 1.) a timepiece and 2.) a fitness tracker. But with no heart rate sensing and mediocre reviews, I didn't pull the trigger.

Hmmmm...Sorry. That was a long-winded way of saying "I agree!"

I'm not a watch wearer, never have been

This is already an obstacle. Add to that the fact that your phone lives in your pocket you definitely are not a good candidate for the Apple watch. I'm curious as to why you ordered to begin with?

I'm not talking about the product living up to expectations.

I'm talking about it not being available in-store, only online. That's what I quoted you saying.

Yeah but those will be less watches in the returns pile...and considering supply issues thats good.
