Apple hasn’t failed at all. They have the number 1 selling phone in the world. There’s no reason to add stylus support for an extremely niche market. The Note barely sells as is and you expect Apple to try to replicate? I certainly wouldn’t mind if they added support, but I don’t blame them for not wasting their time. They know what they’re doing. As others have said though, that’s where the free market comes in. Go buy what you want from a product.

It is the number one selling high end phone that was included in the survey. :). It is quite unlikely it is best selling if you included all the mid and low end models as well.

I guess Apple failed to give you what you were looking for but to say they failed in general just seems like a rant. If one company doesn't have what I need I look for the product elsewhere. Simple as that.

I don't understand the reason why people post comments on a forum announcing a company didn't have the products they wanted. It's as if they expect an Apple employee to post a response and say "We heard you Bob, we will make that phone right away". It is fascinating to me that so many people complain that Apple isn't making what they were expecting and feel a need to announce it publicly. It's almost like they feel Apple has some sort of responsibility to each of us to make products to suit our individual tastes. Weird and fascinating at the same time.

Example. I really wanted to buy some New Balance tennis shoes but found they did not fit me properly. I have yet to go online and complain publicly that New Balance does not have the shoes I want and they should make them. Oh wait... I just did. Never mind. I bought Nikes. Problem solved.

I’ve had Apple computers exclusively from 2003 through 2017. I’ve also bought iPhones since the iPhone 4.

Last year I bought a PC because my 8 year old Max mini just didn’t cut it anymore. Needed a new computer, Mac mini hadn’t been updated in YEARS and an iMac is out of my price range. I had to settle with an HP tower. It works fine. Windows is still not as “clean and easy” to use as Mac OS but like I said, it works fine for my needs. Sucks being lower “middle class”.

Also I broke my iPhone SE 2 weeks ago and I need a replacement. For the first time ever I’m considering buying an Android. I never thought that would happen. The Note 9 just seems more fun.

Plus I don’t want real 3D face scanning camera like Face ID. Also I am a photo whore. I currently have 11,473 photos on my SE. The photo quality is better on the Note 9 than then iPhone X. That’s a big factor to me when considering my replacement phone.

What do you mean by middle class? Are you saying that owning an Apple product is some sort of status thing for the elitist class? I see 10 year olds walking around with iPhone X's in their back pockets. Doesn't seem too elitist to me. Or college kids with MacBook Pros, that they use only to write papers and post to instagram. They probably won't pay off the computer until they graduate. This elitist thing is not all it's cracked up to be. It's just a phone.

this Note 9 im very excited.
This is the market. If you see something you like, buy it. The Samsung products, from a hardware perspective, are awesome.

Apple has annoyed a great many people over the years by not delivering what they want at a time they want it. If you are one of those people, the market has some good options. Fortunately for shareholders, it has found just enough customers to sell a billion or so products.

Definitely not more secure than Touch ID which is what Samsung provides and other manufactures.

According to published reports Face ID is more secure than Touch ID.

To be honest, actual passcode / password is way more secure than any biometric authentication system. But the convenience of use is what pushing the technology forward.

Samsung’s Face ID has proven to be weaker than Apple’s.

I must have missed that. I think it's also the number 1 selling phone in the world though, not by brand, but by phone model.

I had the iPhone 7 Plus waiting for the Apple to release a phone with Apple Pencil support and Real multitasking capabilities. They failed miserably. I hadn't had an Android since the Note 2, and with this Note 9 im very excited. Apple Keynote is a week away, and Apple is so boring and stale there is no neeed to wait and see what they come up with..

I wonder what the poor people are struggling with today ....

He’s basically saying iOS is crap which it is compared to where it should be. iOS 11 didn’t bring much to the table and now neither has iOS 12, mainly because the latter is just fixing the mess that the former created which didn’t even add a great deal itself compared to iOS 10. Why haven’t they added PiP and split screen yet? You can say that you wouldn’t find them useful but I’d rather them there than not. I’ve ran into so many situations where I want to watch a stream for example and I can’t do anything else like check a text or something because the stream will stop and I’ll lose my place if I do. Also, given the larger screen sizes this year across the board there’s more space than ever for it. I would also say that iOS looks stale as heck at this point but a fresh coat of pain wouldn’t matter as much as the rest of the inferior features compared to Android, like better notifications and the ability to set default apps etc. That’s why Android users find iOS ‘boring’. It is too bare bones and is lacking in functionality in comparison.

TLDR; it’s an iOS problem, not the hardware itself.

Saying iOS is crap is pretty short sighted. It may not be for you, but millions of people are happy with it. I personally think Android is crap, but wouldn't go saying that because I know it works for many people. I think PiP and Split Screen is coming to the Xs Plus this year, but we'll see since there hasn't been anything indicating that. It's already on the iPad where it would be used much more than on a phone. Again, not everyone, but I don't think it's something iOS users are clamoring for.

These are all personal opinions. I meant that it’s crap compared to where it should be at this point and I’ve been an iOS user since 2.0. I find iOS to be kind of crippled compared to my Pixel running Pie, the latter just flows with my workflow better along with the features I pointed out. Is having an entire OS release which is basically just fixing the mess of the prior version really anything to shout about? I understand why they focused on stability and I’m glad they did as it is much needed but they honestly shouldn’t have messed it up in the first place, I still have no idea how they managed that one given how iOS 11 didn’t add a great deal to the table anyway.

I’m not sure about this year but I sure hope we do get that PiP and split screen with iOS 13 which is rumoured to be more feature packed with a potential redesign of sorts.

Fair enough. Definitely understandable from your point of view, iOS isn't for everyone. I agree, there could be faster development of some key features, but I think Apple made the right move in fixing some of the issues people had with iOS 11 and give older devices some new life. It sounds crazy considering the size of Apple, but I personally think they are stretched a bit thin from a software development standpoint. 4 major platforms, all need to work together, needs consistency in a lot of areas, plenty of bugs to address, it takes time. I think it's possible with a .1 update to iOS 12, but I think you're likely right - it will probably be pushed to iOS 13. I am more in the camp of not wanting change for the sake of it, like homescreen changes or eye candy stuff, it just doesn't make much of a difference. The features you mentioned would be nice on the larger Xs model though. We'll see.

Apple made you no promises. You wait and assuming they will please is on you dude.

Good luck with your note.

Wow, this has to be the post of the year. Well written, my thoughts exactly
