I want an iPhone with a screen larger than the rumored 6.7" model coming this fall.

The Galaxy Fold 2 is rumored to have a screen between 7.7" and 8" unfolded.

I know the original Fold had many issues, but seeing the progress Samsung made with the Galaxy Z Flip, I think the Fold 2 will be very appealing. For a variety of reasons I'd prefer staying with Apple/iOS versus jumping to Android.

I know Apple is probably working on such a model, but we haven't heard a single reputable rumor that one is coming.

I don’t.

It is going to be many years until they are reliable enough for Apple to make one. If you want a bigger iPhone just get a Cellular iPad and put a phone app on it. There are several that work quite well.

I want a large screen that fits in my pocket.

Get bigger pockets or a fanny pack wait a few years! Heck the oversized phones now don’t fit in many of my pockets and the current foldable phones don’t either as they are so thick.

I am going to say I don't want it, try to minimize it and ridicule anyone else having or trying it - until Apple introduces it and then I am going to change my mind and claim it is the greatest thing since sliced bread and berate anyone who doesn't have one.

Careful what you wish for the price could be $1500 or more if Apple dos. Make one

Apple usually comes out quite a bit later when answering back to trends

I would say since super retina XDR is actually such a big hit to apple that it could make such a phone come out later later on.. lol

I mean we still haven’t seen OLED for iPad pros yet so I’m sure a ‘foldable screen’ would surface later later on from now ha

Apple and Google (hardware) won't bother for awhile. They aren't trying to have the slimmest bezels, the largest displays and the most futuristic designs. I respect that.

You started thread on the same topic approximately a year ago, but with the same concept.

So there again, you say you want a folding phone, based off Apples current trajectory, not likely at in the foreseeable future. Not that it’s not something they haven’t considered, the practicality and maturity isn’t there. I think Apples focus is definitely more geared towards A.R./glasses/wearables over a foldable phone.

I’d rather wait until folding phones have:
- IP68 protection
- Stronger screens
- and a proper setup, the Huawei Mate X and Xs are the closest to having the correct setup where when folded the phone has a 6.6inch screen and and unfolded is a 8inch screen. The Galaxy Fold for me is gimped but it’s outside screen meaning you HAVE to use it unfolded all the time.

I’ve played with both the Mate X and Fold and I prefer the Huawei but feel foldables still have a very long way to go before I can put my money on them.

Maybe in 2-3years they will be more viable as a daily driver.

For now, even taking a Galaxy Fold near the beach could prove fatal for it.

I’m guessing Apple are also working on something and assessing the market, I would only expect a foldable from them in a 2 years or so, I’d be glad to be wrong but I have a feeling they’d want their foldable to be as usable as their current iPhones.

Yeah my desire for a folding iPhone is nothing new. And I do think it will come one day. I just don't know when. I keep praying for a Ming Chi story saying that it's coming at some point.

I do think the Fold 2 will be much better than the original Fold, and if it does well, Apple will more seriously consider such a device.

The Fold 2 should be a massive improvement versus version 1.0. I expect a proper (usable) folded screen this time around, plus a better folding tech a la Z Flip, a larger unfolded screen, and a lower entry point. That's what all the leaks are saying.

I am hopeful a folding iPhone becomes a reality in either 2021 or 2022.

I predict Apple is currently working on a “foldable” version of the iPhone with an announcement date of late 2022 and a production date of 2023 (they will advertise and build up hype almost a year before consumer purchase right before the Christmas Holiday Season) with a starting price of $1200 for the lowest storage version.

Struggling to see folding screens as anything other than a gimmick so far.

Certainly nothing I've seen or read so far makes me want one.

I think folding phones are the worst idea and DOA products.
Anyone that desire to have one is probably the same person that caused market to shift to those ridiculous phablets. I really hope Apple will not release one and will instead spend time focusing on better products than this nonsense

The Z Flip and Moto RAZR seem to be getting close to daily usable foldables but still, I wish one could use these foldables more when closed and only open when you really need a large display, this is why I still prefer Huawei’s take on it, their phone when folded is like a normal 6.6inch smartphone and then when opened it’s an 8inch tablet, nobody else is getting it right, the Galaxy Fold is either a 2010 Android with huge bezels and tiny screen (closed) or a mini tablet, it’s really not ideal. The Z Flip is great but I would not go for it, I also used it at a showcase and it simply reminded me of the flip phones of yesteryear, I didn’t like flip phones, I owned mostly Candy bar or Slider smartphones in the early 2000s because I detested flip phones.

The only flip phone I truly liked was the Nokia N93/N93i due to its multipurpose hinge that allowed a laptop mode etc...

I hope Apple don’t have a flip phone like Z Flip, I hope they find a way to make the Galaxy Fold design work better, have a 6.5inch screen on the outside with minimal bezel and then a large 8inch display when opened, so that one ONLY opens when they need to not have to open every single time.

Apple is going to let everyone else iron out the kinks. While that happens they are probably working on designs to stand out.

You are essentially describing all the rumors of the Fold 2.
