Once again I will ask:

If you:
1. unplug the ethernet (wired) connection,
and
2. turn OFF the airport (wireless) connection,
then...

...HOW are you connected "to the internet" ??

Yes I have LS, it wotks on both in and outgoing requests, in the right mode you have to grant apps permission in LS to access the internet, that is what you saw Word doing

Asking the question isnt a problem, you just need to start taking the answers onboard, otherwise why ask?
I'm going to pull the card... did you look at the links I provided?

Pulling the card is not going to stop Little Snitch from telling you when an app on your Mac tries to make an outbound network connection.

From my 10 years on this forum, it seems like the #1 reason Little Snitch gets recommended is for figuring out what apps on Macs are trying to reach out to the Internet, not as much for watching incoming connections.

I forgot to say, I pulled the card on another laptop and no "Little Snitch-ings" ever showed up. That's why i was so p.o'd.

I'm not explaining it right. And probably not doing it right. I just don't like getting ping'ed when wifi/airport is turned off and pretty much everything else is disconnected. It's feeling like my consent is being overridden. Pulling the card will fix it.

Pulling the card might make you feel safer but it definitely won't stop Word (or any other app) from attempting to connect to the internet.

Most apps have services running in the background that ping your computer at certain times to check for updates, or send usage/diagnostics data, etc. That is perfectly normal. If you just turn off your Wi-Fi, your apps cannot send/receive anything.

This.

Many apps assume you are connected, and have a process running to keep themselves up to date. Just because this happens, does not mean you are connected....it just means a scheduled update is being attempted....and you are being nagged.

The real fix to not being bothered is finding and turning off the automatic update process, for each thing that pops up. This is easy for MS Office, and most apps. Office, for example has a separate app for updates, and a preference setting to automatically check (the default setting), but can be turned off—set to manually check. Set it to manual, and don't ever check. Done.

Way overkill to do more.

OK

LOL, there really was no point you posting, you haven't taken onboard any comment or advice. Best pull the HDD. and all the Wifi cards on all your devices. Just in case.

Then cal the NSA and offer them your machine, if there is a way into it with WiFi off, BT off and no ethernet cable the NSA would LOVE to find out how...

There was really no point in you answering.

You came asking for help, then deliberately ignored any suggestions, as I said, if you don't want to listen don't ask, then we won't all waste OUR time trying to help.

I was actually looking for a deeper level of advice. Not armchair genius advice. Advice such as the people who wrote out what was going on with the Microsoft pings in the links I attached; discussion about how the bots work in backdoors and things like that --- things i don't know about. Thanks for your replies.

Oh and I asked a couple of people I know pretty well over the years I've been here in PMs the same thing and when they didn't know the answers, that's when I asked it in this thread.

You open terminal and type 'sudo ifconfig en0 down' to disable the interface. Why is this thread so long.

These are exactly the "things you don't know about", yet you insist you're being ping'd by somebody/something, despite multiple people here telling you this is not what's happening at all.
You being ignorant is why this thread is so long.

Thanks for chiming in. BTW, what IS UDP port 2222 Rockwell-csp2? Did I miss you or someone else explaining how this is a backdoor connection when your airport card is physically inside the computer?

See, when the card is pulled, you don't get Word requests. Thanks for your answer in advance.

Let me repeat. When the hardware is removed, no requests. Can you give us some technical details about how this works?

TY, and I have no idea why it's so long.

...and you have no idea what he just told you, how comprehensive it is (or isn't, there are multiple interfaces, this command shuts down one), or how this command overlaps with what you have been already told or done.

Bear in mind, you are the one seemingly worried enough to be pulling cables and hardware where it isn't necessary.

...and you have no idea of the technical background of anyone on here you think an "armchair genius". Personally I'd put their knowledge way over yours, but thats just me. Good luck, you will need it.

Thanks for trying to pick a fight over nothing. LOL, where is your personal animosity coming from? Because I keep trying to explain when the hardware is pulled, then Word does not promote any requests?

I just want to get back to my Powerbook 145b, which was very very difficult to get onto the internet.

OP, don't forget to disconnect the transdimensional demodulator that is next to the AirPort Card, that could be the reason why you are getting pinged even though the physical interfaces to do so are disabled. Oh and rip off/ desolder the ethernet port and uninstall every app in your system and rely on Finder's search bar to type anything you want, I don't think finder pings in any way so you could try that. Also for extra protection shield every single port with aluminium. You don't want them signals reaching the pins of your ports. Glad I could help
