I own iPads as well as android tablets and as much as I like android and those tablets I come back to iOS because of the buttery smooth feel to the user interface and the logical approach to the way things were designed. With that said Jelly Bean is the only mobile OS that gives you that feeling of buttery smooth feedback to the OS but Apple still has it when it comes to the logical approach on how you interact with the OS.

My iPad 2 still feels smooth with iOS 6.01. I just wish they changed the App Store back to the way it used where they broke things up in pages. Now there is some serious lag when you have to wait for the entire page to download.

I definitely think that the iPad 5 will be a major improvement and will see a revamp in design. March is too soon for an update, looks more like summer time. To tide you over till then, why not buy a refurb iPad 2? It'll be easy to sell later and is not as expensive as the iPad 4.

Buy a refurbished iPad 3 from Apple. Some stores out here sell it for $500 (64 GB wifi version). The iPad 3 comes with iOS 5.1.1 which will allow you to jailbreak it. For an amateur musician, an iPad 4/5 wouldn't be a requirement. Just get a 3 to save a lot of money and so that you can get a jailbreak.

I expect the iPad 5 to be much easier to hold.

Being that its smaller and lighter.

Iam a minimalist "Gram weeny" so I count weight as a valuable thing.

It makes for alot of comfort in many area's.

Considering the iPad design hasn't been updated in 2 years...

March isn't early at all.

So you want something that doesn't exist?

Yeah. But it will exist in the near future. What's your point? Odd post.

I am also waiting for the ipad5. But I already have an iPad 2. And the thing is a beast. The battery on it is still spectacular and the screen is also great. The 4 things I'm looking forward to on the new machine: 1. thinner 2. lighter. 3. faster. 4. retina.

I hope the March rumors are correct.

As for the OP... I'd wait for March or pick up a 2nd hand ipad 4 for a bit less.

That's one way to look at it, but the other way to look at it is that March is less than 2 months away, especially when you consider that the iPad 2 and iPad 3 announce dates happened in the first week of March in each of the past 2 years, and last year early Feb rumours were appearing regarding the date of the announcement. Still think a March release is likely this year?

You should def wait if you can.

I got all iPads from work and I have a personal iPad mini now.
While people are winning because it's not retina, you can feel that the mini is one generation in advance on the hardware polish.

Light, well polished, small border on the long side. The iPad 4 polish feels old in comparison even if the screen is gorgeous.

Wait.
