I want to commend those 11 people sitting in front of my local Apple Store waiting for tomorrow... it's people like them who made Apple successful.

I spoke to the 2nd guy in line. (the first one in line was sleeping... at 12 noon, but he's been there since last night) He wanted to experience what it's like to do something silly... can't argue with that. I overheard an Apple Store employee telling them(at least those 11) that they'll be fine when the doors open tomorrow, as long as they are flexible on the colors of the iPhone 12.

The sad thing is that my local TV new station and the main stream media are too busy covering the election, so nobody sent a unit to the Apple Store to do a 30-second story on them.... :( People walking past them during lunch hours also had judgmental expressions on them...(although they could be just hungry, since the food court is just around the corner from the Apple Store)

I’m nearly 40, and I have never waited in line for a phone or done anything crazy for Black Friday. The only thing I have ever done is some midnight game releases back in my teenage years.

Nearly the same. I did get in line a few years back, 3GS I think, at AT&T because I had an issue ordering it. Other than that, never done it. Seems stupid to me. Even more so today.

You weren't even in diapers when I waited in line to see the original Star Wars movie.... I even remember my friends calling me just before going.. on ROTARY dial phones! His mom drove us there, in her Oldsmobile station wagon. There were 7 of us. The wagon had front bench seats, so it was his mom + 2... then 3 more in the back seat.. me and 2 others squeezed into the rear-facing seat in the trunk area. We was all in high school back then... but eventually drifted apart afterwards.. haven't seen any of those guys in ages. (except one who recently retired from Microsoft and opened a steakhouse)

Who cares about people standing in line waiting to buy a phone? There are bigger issues facing this country that need being covered by the press than fanboys waiting to buy a phone. They are not heroes, just people standing outside wanting to buy something.

I bought KOTOR from EB Games after work the day it came out. and I waited around 3 hours one time to buy a 3dfx voodoo 2 card the day they hit retail

Thanks. I'm currently camping outside of the Apple Store for more than a week now. Going to upgrade my iPhone 11 Pro Max to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

People actually have given me money thinking I'm a homeless person sleeping in front of the Apple store. Because of that, I got extra money for the charger that is not included in the box.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I got up at zero-dark-thirty back in 2012 and drove to my local Apple store to stand in line for the iPhone 5. It was kind of a cool experience and I'm glad I did it once.

I waited overnight for the new iPhone release only once. I just happened to drop and break my phone (for the first and only time) the night before, and waiting on line was the only guarantee of getting a replacement. Plus, I had a new puppy who probably wouldn’t sleep through the night, so we might as well wait in line together.

What are the chances of scoring a phone on launch day if you don't wait in line? I pre-ordered a phone I'll be picking up tomorrow but I'm wondering I may be able to buy another one for my cousin who didn't pre-order. Will be buying outright.

You are going to be disappointed - there are no 12 Pro Max available this Friday.

Only 12 and 12 Pro.

You have 2 more weeks to wait outside.... 😂

This only made sense back when you couldn't pre-order online and get it at home on launch day. A few years ago I even received the phone the day before launch day and it was funny to drive by stores with people in line for the next day while I already had the phone in my hand.

A guy I worked with and I did that for one of the WoWs. Think we had to go to three stores before we could get it

Depending on how soon, you might get something but would have to not be looking for an exact capacity and color. Not sure if you can do a pickup in store on the website on launch day, but I was able to on day 2 last year

The only reason to wait in line for anything is if there is a limited amount and you just have to have it. Apple's gonna make 50 gajillion of these like every other phone. Don't have to have it day one.

In a few months, everybody's gonna start talking about the next iPhone anyway and all the excitement for this version will have died out.

Uh.....I hope you're comfortable, because you've got about three weeks to go. The Pro Max doesn't release until November 13th.
