Oh man, every time I take my iPhone out of the bumper, I get nervous that it will break. It's like a slippery yet beautiful glass brick.

The glass back isn't any more slippery than the plastic back, and is in fact less slippery than the aluminum back of the original iPhone. Although I realize you mean you can grip it better with the bumper on.

I carry my iP4 in a horizontal belt case, but it's naked when I take it out. The belt case makes it easy to get the phone into and out of my hand, lessening the chance that I'll drop it.

I didn't hate Bumper, but I just didn't want to hide the beauty of the device. I've got SGP kit including the sides, and a couple of sleeves and carrying case for transport, but using the phone without actual cases.

I've also ordered a set of colored side covers from a seller on Etsy. That should give my phone some character without adding any bulk.

I'm lefty, but reception has been ok maybe thanks to the side protectors.

I've been going naked, being very careful. But today when cleaning it I noticed very small hairline scratches on the back. Barely noticeable, and only under certain lighting, but now I look for them all the time. Are these possible to get out somehow?

Going naked for now, largely due to the lack of case options.

I'm a little nervous about it as I like to use it as a gps device when biking/hiking, but right now the cases out there either wouldn't provide enough protection IF I dropped it in these scenarios (sorry, but I doubt the bumper is going to provide any protection if it falls out of my pocket on a bike ride going 15mph on a gravel path), or there's something wrong with them (such as having flash issues).

I really do like the feel of it without a case though.

I bought a Squaretrade warranty, so I may just use that as my "case".

Gear4 case

I got my iP4 on launch day and would love to keep it naked but also have a desire to keep it pristine. Given the lack of choice on launch day, I purchased one of the very few cases available, which just happens to give all round protection including an overlay to the front screen.

Never have I been so disappointed in spending £20 on such rubbish, whilst it does the job, no matter how much you clean the screen and inside of the case, you cannot avoid the tendency for the overlay screen to stick to the phone causing massively unsightly blotches. Should I be asking for my cash back??

My advices, nasty case, steer clear!

EDIT: PS, this was only ever purchased as a temporary option but nevertheless, it's still garbage!

going with a bumper and power support films front and back. still like the look of the phone better without the bumper

Naked when in my office or in a safe venue. Nothing feels as good as going naked.

But when I am in venues where potential harm can come, I slip it into something made of black leather. My iPhone 4 wears black leather or it wears nothing at all.

Got the IS (Zagg i believe) on the front and back. the "grippiness" of the shield went away after a day or two and now i can't even tell they are on - and don't have to worry about any scratches.

Normally that's all i would use (just had a screen protector on my 3G too), but i'm leaning more and more into getting a bumper also. Never used to worry about dropping it or the 3G until all these stories started coming up about the glass shattering. So...bumper with the full-body IS is the way i'm rolling.

Black bumper.

I sold my 3GS for $200 cash because it was in a case from day one and as far as I'm concerned I got a "free" upgrade. What a resale value, thanks to protecting my investment. Never saw that from any other phone I've owned.

+1

I am using an i4 case from ifrogz.com

It is the one Best Buy sells, the half blue and half black and it is a really nice case as well, fits well, it was $29.99 and easy to remove and put on after a good cleaning.

I am looking for the best case now, last night at moviehouse my iphone slipped on my pocket! I think its because front and back glass is too slippery on the pocket without case. My phone survived... No marks at all. Im impressed.

Yeah, I would like my phone to go naked but I know I'm a klutz so in a case it goes :(.

It is in some freebie case I got while standing in line for the iphone (some guy was trying to get people to take pictures of themselves wearing the website he was promoting's shirt). It is made by dexim and it honestly isn't half bad (specially considering it was a freebie). Came with a screen protector too.

still waiting on the right case (prob something by switcheasy) so nothing right now. it travels in a microfiber glasses bag.

Shield only, no case or bumper.

On my 3GS the only times I actually had it out of the case is the first time I held it when I purchased it and the minutes I was showing it to the person I was selling it to. So basically I ended up with keeping a phone mint for it's new owner. Granted I got $475 for it which is $175 profit minus tax

I will treat this phone as it is, mine.

Cases are too bulky

I got the Bumper case for mines, as I just want to be careful. The only time I've dropped an iPhone was my first 2G and I shattered the screen, in which I sold and bought another one a few odd years ago.

Today as I was walking into the mall, I went to pull it out to listen to some tunes, wouldnt you know it slipped out of my hand. Of course I though "Ah ****, there she goes," but as i tried to catch it, and tap it and it spun causing it to land on the corner, nothing short of a few small niches on the band.

And to think, 5 more minutes and i would have had protection on it.
/inb4 thats what she said

So for now, I got the Bumper, but plan on getting this soon:

And I have a ZAGG custom skin on the back.

I bought a bumper on day one. I like it alright but I don't feel like it offers a lot of protection. I did drop it from 3 feet onto asphalt today and my phone was fine, the bumper had a gash on the corner but the rest looked fine. I'm pretty sure I would have had a busted screen if I didn't have the bumper.

Also the bumper doesnt work with the old style iPod cables (With the clips) or the cheap monoprice cables because the opening is too small.

Today I bought a Belkin Clear Vue. I like the way it feels and the material it is made out of feels like it would help the phone survive a drop. I don't really like how the power button feels but the rest is pretty nice.

I don't know if I'll stay with the Belkin for good but of the cases that I have seen available it is my favorite.
