I'm doing audio with Pro Tools and video with Final Cut... Pretty sure 4gb's won't cut it. I had 16GB on my G5 and I was taxing. I went ahead and bought the 16GB kit for now. If I need more, I'll get more.

Now I just need a faster CPU and a better graphics card. I have the nVidia GeForce 7300 GT 256MB GDDR. I want something faster with Tiger support dual DVI monitors. Will this card work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220560725024

I have the dual 2.0ghz. Will my logic board support a 3Ghz CPU?

Dude, i said 2 - 4g sticks.

Apple ram

You can find the same exact ram that the MacPro uses manufactured by Samsung but no intended for sale with the MacPro. I did this on new egg and I maxed out at 32gb and it cost me half as less than apple would have charged.

Same EXACT ram, not the same Apple TAXED PRICE.
Apple buys mass quantities of ram from Samsung and has it tested to run within Apple specifications. So why would the same ram not sold through APPLE be any less effective or trust worthy than the ram purchased through Apple?

I ram 16gb or patriot g series ram in it prior t the upgrade and as long as the ram is of good quality and meet the needed system specifications I see no issue with none apple "certified" ram.
I run patriot ddr3 ram in my 2.4ghz 15" Macbook pro unibody and I have had no issue since it was installed over a year ago.

Though, does the samsung ram have the apple certified heatsinks?

PC memory doesn't have the same heatsinks (FB-DIMM), but they are available if one wants to DIY the heatsinks (easy enough, here; $49USD to do a pair of DIMM's <4pcs of profile; 2 needed per DIMM>).

You need to upgrade to Leopard. Tiger does not support 64 applications, meaning you won't really be able to use that 32 gigs of RAM for anything useful.

You can actually upgrade to 4 core cpu if you want. 2x Xeon 5365 3.0ghz 4 core is the max that the board can take. I upgraded from 2.66ghz to 3.0ghz 2 core xeon 5160 for $250, found 2x on eaby.

You found 2 for $250 or 2 for $500?

Yes it will. Suggest you put 2 quad cores in it. Buy what you can afford since your already in there. I got a pair of 2.33 ghz for 400 bucks 2 years ago. Try to get at least the 2.66ghz if you can. Big difference going from quad to octo. Also install smcfancontrol as it will heat up more. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Can you recommended a part number?
