Also, I've been wanting to get a job at my local Apple Store, can you give any tips that could help me out? What they are looking for etc? Anything that could prepare me or give me an edge. 🙂

It's cool if you can sell stuff, and it really helps to know macs.. but you really don't need either. People who don't know OSX go work at cashwrap (assuming your store has/will have one 😉 ). You're here, so I assume you know something.

The biggest, best thing you can do is prove that you know how to dumb stuff down. Figure out how you would explain the advantages of a gig of ram over 512mb to an old lady. Figure out how to differentiate harddrive size and ram, figure out how to explain wireless internet, and how it usually doesn't have anything to do with cell phones. You must be able to dumb everything down, and have a million analogies for hardware and software questions, ready to go at a moment's notice.

Here's an example that I came up with for DVD studio pro clinics. Different video and audio tracks on a DVD are like different lanes on a highway. You're still getting to the same place, you're just doing it slightly differently.

There's lots of car analogies.

On my first day, my manager warned me to take down my blogs, and delete my accounts from message boards.... espcially mac boards. He told me horror stories of people being hauled out of the store in handcuffs for giving away info.

I didn't have to, he just recommended it. I just deleted anything that had to do with my application at apple.
