I'd call the non emergency line. Ask them to run the serial number to see if it's stolen. Give them the serial number. If it's not reported stolen, then it's not considered stolen.

If they confirm that serial number has been reported as stolen, I'd meet with my lawyer and a detective, and try to rope in the guy you purchased it from so he can take the fall for selling stolen goods.

I'd then file a small claims suit against the man to get my money back the easiest way possible.

Must be.

I mean what possible reason could he have for not being here right now?

This reeks of Gitmo. Don't buy stolen laptops, kids.

Did you even attempt to the sellers name and address? I would still attempt to contact him and get a refund if that goes no where then contact bleacher

Not in jail, lmao. Just been busy with work and school. Like I said before I am going to contact Bleacher Report first and explain the situation. I want to do what's right.
I'm strongly believed Billburns are the one who's sold OP the laptop. LoL. he keeps convincing OP doing bad. he is the guy, please run a scan on his background. LoL

Lol

No, just don't wanna see someone get ripped off and possibly lose a laptop and a large amount of money. Basically at this point just suggesting he tries to find the seller and really contact him.

I would message him on eBay and say you have his info and plan on calling the police and filing a police report against him for selling a stolen item

I don't think you'll get in trouble. Might not be stolen either.

A lot of assumptions, I would use it as normal. You won't be tracked, I find it stupid unless there is proof it was stolen to even call the cops and lose out on over $1000+

In b4 someone quotes me and says I'm an idiot because I'm not.

Agreed. If it were me, I'd do a full wipe of the HD using a usb install thumb drive and do a fresh install of sierra and enjoy the computer for the next 5 years.

The company may not know it is stolen. If it was taken out of inventory before it was assigned to a user, unless they audit serial numbers to deployed laptops it could be a while before they realize it is gone.

Every IT shop I have worked as has done a poor job of maintaining inventory at this level m

At the end of the day, what it all comes down to is that you do not know the history of the machine. You have some doubt as to it's legitimacy and the only people who can confirm this is the previous owners who appear to be Bleacher Report. Therefore it would be prudent to email the company explaining the situation, the name of ebay account that sold you the machine and the serial number of the unit. Bleacher can then confirm if it is a unit they did in fact get rid of or it's a stolen unit.

Leave the ball in Bleacher's court. If they do not contact you within a month then send them an email asking to be updated on the situation. If Bleacher still do not get in contact with you then accept that the unit is now yours.

Bleacher cannot come back after a few months and say the unit is theirs and they want it back because you have given them every opportunity within a month to get in contact with you. You bought the unit under 'fair usage' and given the company enough time to contact you.

I gotz a feelin' we won't be seein' the OP again... ;)

He was logged in 19hrs ago but this thread is the last one he posted in, so he's looking at the forum but not posting. Makes me wonder why he's note posted an update knowing that people are posting in here (red flag notification on your profile).

People posted in here after he was logged in so he def didn’t see the notifications yet

Obviously he's at a black site after being arrested for possession of stolen goods. I would guess the recent activity is somebody keeping up appearances. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a post from 'the OP' pretty soon, but it's just a smoke screen.

LOL what are you on?!?

I still yet to see any proof this is stolen in any way. It was purchased understood that it was new open box condition, which it was, but that is in no relation to if it is stolen because it was previously owned. You have an issue with the seller because you were under the impression it wasn't previously owned, but you got a machine in new open box condition that you paid for and all was solved by your cousin. You have no proof joining the fact it was previously owned with the seller telling you anything regardless of the fact, linking it to being stolen in any way. Move on unless you are just a glutton for punishment.
