There are many threads on the positives and negatives of "upgrading" to the latest iPhone on Friday, but I just wanted to remind every existing owner that we WILL have a "New" iPhone by Friday.
90% of the "great new features" that numerous threads talk about are software 2.0 features.

I've had a new phone almost every day. I jailbroke mine. :)

I am sorry, 3G was not available last year.

I believe that they meant " in other phones", like the HTC Tilt I had last year. 3G was no big deal, as I don't phone browse "that" much...
The crippled ( no turn by turn directions) GPS is not a big deal to ME either. Your mileage may vary. For every thread like this praising the new software on a version 1 , there are 50 hyped up threads on the new model. It wasn't that big an update guys, must be why they're so sensitve!

Seriously. It's like your attacking their mother if you say you don't care about the upgrade. ;)

And for what its worth, I'm not feeling all that compelled to upgrade. Maybe someday. There just seems to be too many strings attached for too few a number of upgrades. And I'm not feeling the $45 data plan for business users. I'm not sure what the terms are that discern between business and personal use, but I use my iPhone extensively for both, and that ends up being a pretty hefty chunk of change over 2 years.

I think you underestimate how powerful 3g and gps capabilites are for the iphone. I would not buy the 1st gen iphone because it did not have 3g. This was the ONLY reason I didnt buy it. Thats all I ever really wanted and now you get GPS (which is an invaluable technology) and other needed improvements to the PHONE functionality...not to mention a headphone jack that is usable. Lets face it, they only fixed glaring weaknesses and thats all most people wanted in a phone that was already excellent. Now as for that copy & paste...............

I had two "3G Phones" before the iPhone and the only advantage, again for somebody whom does not do a "lot" of phone browsing was the live tv (MobiTv)streaming that my Treo and Tilt had. I had a Curve 8130 with GPS and turn by turn directions also- prefer my Garmin or TomTom.

I WILL upgrade, and pay the higher monthly rates when a 32GB model is available. Stereo (2) speakers like the coming Blackberry Bold would be nice too!

well thats fine...gps and 3g are not important for you, but for many users these are very significant updates.
