It never ceases to amaze me how full of **** corporations can be, even with their own employees.

how so? There are noobs out there who will wonder if their wifi will work overseas. Obviously their CDMA won't work. Not everyone buying ipads is tech savvy, so it's up to the carriers to make sure at a minimum their people can relay any newbie data to potential customers.

I'm not sure how's that's being full of *beeps*?

I just called Verizon's local store and they said that the service is subject to the $35 fee. Didn't ask about recharges with reactivation though.

I am friends with a Verizon store manager. He is tech savy - for a Verizon employee :D There is no $35 fee. Verizon does have a $35 activation fee for IPADs but they are waiving it for this product launch (b/c they knew ATT would kick their butts if they didn't) . If you start, then cancel and then go to restart they will not waive that fee again and will charge you the $35. The first time you start, as of now, they are waiving the $35 fee. ATT coverage is terrible in my area so I am a Verizon customer out of necessity.

And I believe that to be correct for a post paid plan - a month-to-month contract. However, as posted elsewhere, if you use the prepaid plan with a credit card and you manage it from you iPad, you can use data as needed w/o paying the $35 activation fee.

To be clear (as mud, thanks Verizon). I get my IPAD2, sign up for Verizon thru/on the device, give them my credit card info to pre-pay for that coming month. No contract and no $35 fee??

Yes, that is the way it is supposed to work. I just called my local store (and they said they are saving me one!) and the rep verified that I could sign up for a prepaid plan, use it for the month and then not do anything for 3-4 months later and there would not be any activation fee when I decided to use data again.

Now I believe it is a month from the day you purchase - so use it or lose it in that 30 days. So actually, now that I think about it, I'll probably be buying just about every month for travel! Damn.....

Thanks, good luck today hope you score your IPAD. I ordered online as I am on the road, no holding one for me....
